SoulPancake is hard at work on a pilot for the Oprah Winfrey Network, and the theme of the pilot is LOVE.
We are looking for an epic, romantic love story that we might be able to profile as part of the pilot episode. Mostly, we're interested in amazing, triumphant, uplifting love stories where two people have come together, found each other, and stayed together despite having the odds stacked against them and facing tons of obstacles.
Think of the stories that become movies!! People overcoming obstacles, reunions decades later, etc. That's what we want! If you know of a relationship that could be made into a movie, we would love to hear about it!
Email us your pitch for an awesome love story at pilot@soulpancake.com. Photos welcome!

The SoulPancake team is proud to annonce the arrival of the SoulPancake app for iPhone! You can now have those amazing SoulPancakey discussions at your fingertips. What's that you say? You can easily snap pictures for your conversations? Indeed.
Of course we like it, but here are some nice words from people who think our app is magical:
"Over three years after its launch on the Web through the initiative of Rainn Wilson of “The Office” fame, SoulPancake has finally made its way to iOS. And the result is quite yummy, if I do say so myself." - Aldrin Calimlim of appadvice.com (http://appadvice.com/appnn/2012/09/seek-the-answer-to-life-the-universe-and-everything-with-the-new-soulpancake-app-for-ios)
"If you’re the type who likes to avoid small talk and prefers talking about deeper, arguably more interesting topics you’re going to love this app." - Appinati (http://appinati.com/soulpancake/)
"LOVE IT. Sharing ideas, joining in ideas, this app is more than an app. It's a platform for hungry minds - thus, pancakes (:" - BoastfulMIND (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soulpancake/id560689366?mt=8)
And our favorite:
"What is this sorcery??" - bbbanksy (http://soulpancake.com/conversations/view/83805/iphone-app.html)
And don't worry Android people, you're up next. So download the app now and start chewing on life's big questions!

The only guarantee we have in our lives is that at some point we will die. And yet, death is one of the most taboo topics in our culture.
SoulPancake is embarking on the production of a courageous, controversial and uplifting series that will tackle the issue of death head on by interviewing people of all ages who have been informed that they are living their last days.
We are seeking positive, vulnerable children, men and women ages 1 to 100 who are battling a terminal illness and have been given a specific number of weeks or months to live. If you or someone you know is currently facing this reality, we would love to interview them for this show. We want to give these people an opportunity to share their lives with the world. We believe that their stories of courage, hope and determination can inspire others to re-examine the way they are living.
If you have any questions or wish to submit potential people to feature on the show, please contact: mylastdays(at)soulpancake.com.

Hey everyone!
As you can see, we released some changes to the site over the weekend. Here's what we've been up to:
1. Separate experiences for Conversations and Activities
The great thing about building an iPhone app, is that is makes you focus, sharply focus. With such limited screen real-estate, we had to look at our site and try to fit everything together in a way that's easy to use and powerful at the same time. What we realized, is that it makes a lot more sense to build separate experiences for both Conversations and Activities. So, that's what we did, and we're currently putting the final touches on the SoulPancake Conversations iPhone app. So, the changes to the website are paving the way for the app.
So, what does this actually mean? You'll see a different header and logo when you visit Conversations and Activites. Your News Feed will also be specific to that section. So, when the people you follow start a conversation, respond to a converstion, like a conversation, etc, it will show up in your News Feed in Conversations (http://soulpancake.com/conversations/news). And when someone you follow tackles or likes an Activity, it will show up in your News Feed in Activites (http://soulpancake.com/activites/news). You can basically think about them as two separate websites that both use the same master SoulPancake account.
2. @Replies has changed to @Interactions
@Interactions will now show you two types of items: 1. Responses to Conversations you have started. 2. Replies to your Responses around the site. When you have a new @Interaction, you will see a blue counter ribbon appear on the @Interaction tab.
Interactions are also specific to Conversations or Activites.
3. Messages and People have moved
To get to your Messages and People lists, click the dropdown on the Account Module in the top right of the screen. Also, when you have a new message, you'll see a blue # appear to the left of the account module.
4. Re-imagining Perspectives
We're in the process of re-imagining the Perspectives section of SoulPancake. So, for the time being, we won't be releasing any more Perspectives. However, those great SoulPancake contributors will be joining you in Conversations and whipping up some Activites for you to dig into going forward. You can always visit the Perspectives archive here: http://soulpancake.com/perspectives
5. The SoulPancake Network Homepage
Over the last few years, SoulPancake has expanded into many new medium and platforms. So, we needed to create a place to present all those aspects when someone first visits SoulPancake.com. We're also very excited to be launching a full-fledged YouTube channel on July 23. We'll be releasing a new tasty video every week day. You can quickly get to the SoulPancake channel by clicking Videos on the homepage or from the toolbar at the top of your screen.
So that's about it for now. Let us know if you have any questions and enjoy!
cheers,
devon
Hey everyone!
Over the last few years, we've learned a lot about how the SoulPancake community likes to talk, debate, and bat around life's big questions. When we first launched SoulPancake, we started with the Question Collective - a big bucket where you could upload any image paired with a question.
Over time, we learned that you didn't always want to be locked into posting an image. So, in the next evolution of the Question Collective, we made images optional, and also allowed for the attachment of videos to your questions. This started to push the Question Collective to wider forms of media and additional forms of expression.
Since then, our main learning is that you love conversation. You want to talk, you want to discuss, you want to throw around ideas and smash them into each other to see what comes out of it. And not only do you want to talk about the biggest theoretical questions of the universe, but you also want to talk about what's going on in the world around you - in the news, art, media, and other forms of creative expression.
So, with that in mind, we're happy to announce the next evolution of the Question Collective. It's now more than just a place for questions - it's also about the links, videos, images, and quotes that move the mind and kickstart the soul. It's about discussing the news, ideas, events, and inspirations that are happening all around us. It's called the Conversation Collective, and we hope you like it.
cheers,
@devongundry

GET READY FOR SOME FACE TIME, SOULPANCAKERS!
We get it. You need a break from screens, gadgets and thumb cramps. You're annoyed because you just got into a pointless online fight with @pancakeman45 because you thought he was being sarcastic by capitalizing 'OK', when he was really just using proper grammar. You're craving eye-contact and sentences that ride sounds waves; subtle inflections and body language; and all the other intangible elements that make an in-person conversation so magical. Well, now's your chance to disconnect from the interweb and plug into the real world with the SoulPancake Book.
What is a SoulPancake Meetup?
Think of it as a book club without tasteless mini-quiches and know-it-all literature snobs asserting their mastery of the underlying neo-psychological themes in The Great Gatsby. There’s no rule book. No dress code. No age limit. Just a goal - to gather together the thinkers, artists, poets, entrepreneurs, dreamers, innovators, and misfits, who seek to stamp out stigmas, shake up truths, and experience what happens when tons of ideas about creativity, philosophy, and spirituality collide.
How do I start a SoulPancake Meetup?
The most important thing is that you kick-start your creative juices and shape your Meetup into something uniquely you. Maybe start a weekly Meetup at a coffee shop and tackle a chapter each time. Or go flashmob style and spark an impromptu Meetup in the middle of Hollywood for a round of Reverse Pickpocket. Just get people interacting and swirling their brains together in a cacophony of creative energy. We believe in you. Jump in and have fun!
- Grab the book. (or if you don't have the book, just pick some SP Exclusives from the site)
- Go to http://meetup.com/soulpancake and sign up.
- Schedule a Meetup and invite your friends.
- Rinse and repeat.

EXAMPLE #1: CHILL OUT AND CHAT
- Get together with some friends in a cozy place and pick one chapter from the SoulPancake book.
-
Go through the pages of the chapter in order:
- Start by reading the INTRO at the beginning of the chapter. Compare your thoughts.
- For LIFE’S BIG QUESTIONS, first read the quotes & factoids. Then, have everyone answer the main question. Let the discussion unfold. Want to dig deeper? You’ve got three extra questions on each page.
- For CREATIVE CHALLENGES, roll up your sleeves and follow the directions. (You might have to round up some simple materials beforehand.) Show off your creations and talk about your experiences.
- For LIFE’S LITTLE LISTS, have each person write their list on a piece of paper. Mix up the lists, then take turns reading them. Try to guess who wrote what.
- Wrap up your MeetUp by REDEFINING the word at the end of the chapter. Share your epiphanies.
- If you like how it goes, Meetup again!
EXAMPLE #2: GET UP AND GO!
- Pick one creative challenge from the SoulPancake book. You have 27 to choose from.
- Find a place where you can get together to tackle this challenge.
- Document the experience. Snap pictures. Tweet. Update your status. The usual.
- Grab some coffee afterwards and talk about how it went.
- Vote on the next challenge you’ll tackle. Then set a date and Meetup again!
IS THERE ALREADY A MEETUP NEAR ME?
Maybe! Go to http://meetup.com/soulpancake or check out the fancy map widget below!
