What is love? (express yourself poetically)

My wife gave me this Rumi poem for my birthday:
This is love: to fly toward a secret sky,
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First, to let go of life.
In the end, to take a step without feet;
to regard this world as invisible,
and to disregard what appears to be the self.
Heart, I said, what a gift it has been
to enter this circle of lovers,
to see beyond seeing itself,
to reach and feel within the breast.

Love is when your heart sees another human being and feels and cares for them. You see their faults and still love them, you help them and they help you through life to survive. If there was no love in this world I don't know if anyone could survive everyone would probably become depressed which leads to hate and sadness. Love is a feeling the whole world needs to share. Love not war.
Love between two beings is something special. The man I am with I love him for his personality, his humor, his kindness, his respect most of all the feelings we have for each other. We are there for each other and help through hard times and good times. We make the best of everything we have. He's my best friend. The love that is shared is unexplainable I can not even put into words how powerful Love is. Its precious, fragile, kind and so much more!!! <3

It was her first date the night he came to call
Her dad said, "Son, have her home on time. And promise me you'll never leave her side."
He took her to a show in town
And he was ten feet off the ground
He was walking her home

And the nurse said, "Should we tell him now, or should he wait until the morning to find out?"
When they checked her room that night..
He was laying by her side..
He was walking her home
And holding her hand
Oh, the way she smiled when he said,"This is not the end."
And just for a while they were eighteen
And she was still more beautiful to him than anything
He was walking her home..

I think that above statement realizes commitment, devotion, loyalty, blind following without regard for self. This isn't negative, just what I responded to.

What is love?
Love is when I think about squeezing the "juice" out of my baby daughter when I hug her, but I don't.
Love is wanting to be surrounded by any sensation of that person, all the time. Touching, standing, whatever.
Trust is part of love, but not all of it.
Loyalty is part of love, but not all of it.
Not losing yourself, still feeling whole and sharing a life together.
Respect is part of love, not all of it.
Humor is part of it, but not all of it.
Appreciation for difference is also a huge part.
I don't know what it all is. I wasn't good at it except for my daughter.

My wife gave me this same poem after I cheated on her. She wanted me to stay but I left her. After all I did it on purpose and wasn't sorry.

Love means never having to say your sorry. That's right! True love never hurts or cheats so would never have to say sorry.
My love has conditions and never forgives. Treat me like sh*t = lose my love

Love is, I think, accepting the fact that, like in the Prufrock poem, maybe mutual understanding is impossible, but that striving to get as close to it as possible with the person of your choice is a worthy and meaningful undertaking, and one you are both bound to learn from. In that vein, love is taking that passage from a book or poem you've carried around with you for years, maybe not because it's the best or the most beautiful but because it hit you so hard, whether in a good way or bad, and being able to show that to someone and have them turn and look at you and honestly say it hits them that way too.
