Well, I've always been a writer. So, often I'll sit down with my notebook and start writing about something. Anything at all. Sometimes it's my day, sometimes it's something I saw that day, sometimes it's something I've been thinking about a lot. I'll just write whatever comes into my mind, and usually, it just goes from there. I usually feel like drawing as soon as I get bored with writing.

Creative state Recipe:
first you must mix some music with solitude
allow your thoughts and feelings to expand in the mixtures,
most importantly do not forget to add many cups of imagination
Optional items might include but are not limited to:

Creativity for me is a combination of anxiety, obsessive-compulsion, up swings, and the desire to touch whatever it is I'm working with. I have to be hands on and I have to ask a lot of questions. Whenever I hear a song I like I always ask myself "how did they to that" then tell myself "I can totally do that" then go figure it out on a piano, guitar, or Gameboy. And then I pursuit it endlessly until it is either complete or I get bored...which leads to many unfinished projects unfortunately.

I stare out into space and wonder about things while listening to some of my tunes in the dark, just to clear my mind and pretend to find inner peace, then my brain starts to spark randomly at thoughts too soft for me to hear because my more vibrant thoughts distracting me....
To become original, become influenced, and at times pretend you KNOW the world, put yourself in a position and play 'king' or 'master', like you did when you were 5 and forget who you are, forget the 'chains' your no longer a 'prisoner', become lost, and just think of just the ideas that you've seen or read and become absorbed, don't let limitations hold you back on your thinking....but most of all, be willing to let your creativity take control.

Music gets me feeling really creative. Cleaning also help. When I clean I usually end finding cool things that lead me to want to do something creative. Doing things I've never done before make me feel creative. Just looking around makes me feel creative. Recently some friends of mine and I went for a walk around one of my friend's house and ended up going to her shed. Her parents are now letting us redecorate it and turn it into a place for us to hang because we walked into her shed and though we could turn it into something great!

Observing EVERYTHING!!!! Listening, but always searching for something that gives you that emotional rush. That's what being creative really is, trying to portray an emotion to others through something. So just always being on the lookout for something that gives you an emotional response.

Cook, read, clean, go out drinking with people you don't know, ANYTHING that requires a motor function. Anything to avoid thinking about that initial feeling that a creation is on the way. I try to let the subconscious do the work until it bubbles over.

I think the first thing is that you have to let go of your inhibition, in whatever form that is. I found that when I had some restriction on how I think an idea, concept will be perceived or come off, in that act I am stiffing my own creativity. I also try and just let myself relax and not focus on trying to come up with something, but let an idea come to me - they usually do. I always find I can be more creative when I put myself into a new environment and look at things with a new perspective.

I have to stop thinking about the stressful things, and just let my mind wander to other things. Think about things that I enjoy, and don't worry about what I am creating until I am done. I tend to over think my projects, and I have found that when I stop thinking about it, it turns out better.

I feel like college has taken away my creativity, even though college is supposed to do the opposite. Most days are so bland and everything has become a routine. I hate it.

I think the idea of needing to be in a certain state to create is a myth. As a writer, I've found that writing doesn't happen as the result of a magical formula. Writing happens when you sit down, pick up a pen and get on with it. It's boring and banal and not what anyone wants to hear, but it's the truth.

I find it's a lot easier to be creative when I'm really, really tired, because you don't really care about anything when you're tired other than the spur of the moment - you won't be going, "does that look right?" every second. Also, it seems like my mind works best when I'm sleep deprived because there isn't really any line between an overactive imagination and what's actually there.

I think it has a lot to do with how you carry yourself through society. Just, how you live. If you go around limiting yourself to what other people do, I don't think you will get too far with creativity.
