I am pursuing a doctorate in mythological studies, and am intensely interested in the ways myth manifests in our current cultural/historical moment. I especially love pop culture for the things it can teach us about ourselves, and because I believe the distinction between "high culture" and "low culture" are becoming more and more arbitrary with each passing day. I tend to believe (withholding judgment as much as I am able) that myth is the opposite of religion, and would love to discuss this with other open-minded people.
