"I could care less" it implies that you do care even though you are trying to say that you don't

It's about wedding cakes or really nice cakes that you never want to cut because they are insanely beautiful, it's like decoration.

I think the cake statement means if you eat the cake it's gone you have eaten it. So you either can have the cake or eat it not both.

Live Laugh Love!
"Be true to yourself."
Be a friend and you will find one.
Employees must wash hands before returning to work.
When I read these, I feel like it's a task list in need of reminders. Uhhhhh my schedule is full I'll lie to myself now and then go back and ask myself for forgiveness later and try to be true from that point on...
I'm exhausted at the reminders to keep me on the straight and narrow path.

This is a funny subject. I asked a friend to "keep her eyes peeled". She is from another country, and freaked out! Had not a clue what I was saying. She thought I wanted her to peel her eyes out! LOL.. That is a weird one also.

Before a performance, telling an actor to "break a leg" makes NO sense to me at all. The only thing I've guessed is that maybe telling someone "good luck" is actually bad luck so telling someone to break a leg or go bankrupt or to die is better??? Idk...

'Finish your food - there are starving people in (insert country where you don't live)'. I have never in my life understood how eating more food is supposed help someone else thousand of miles away get a meal. I get that it's about appreciating your food, but wouldn't it make more sense for me to eat less food and send preservable food items to those starving people? And besides, why do they have to be from another country? There are more than enough starving people in my own country to whose lives I can contribute. Not that I wouldn't want to contribute to lives of people from other countries - i certainly do. But does it matter where the starving person is? My eating more dinner will not feed them.

"To each their own" always seemed like such a cop out to me. Instead of talking about and trying to understand people's differences, one just dismisses it away. Of course everybody has their own ideas!

The logic of the statement is fine, though it may be more obvious if you say it in it's probable, original order:

Once you've eaten it, you no longer have it. I suspect people misunderstand it because they take the odd leap to a very different phrase, "you can't have your cake and then eat it," which is of course not what the proverb says, but is agreeably a pretty illogical idea.

Silly Gates. Doesn't he realize that he can't have $60 billion, if he gives half of it away? He should be saving for hard times.
