I've always wanted to be a film director. Kids wouldn't play with me because i was always telling them what to say, or how to say it, when we were doing the police and bandits thing. My creativity and talent spun me in so many directions, that by the time i was 20, all i could do was wait tables, and read books and write poems, or work at record stores. I couldn't turn my air (the talent and the creativity) into solid ground (tangible work). why? cause all i wanted was to pay rent and bills, and have a quite life. something we never understand is that, to be really great, you have to be relentless, fight for what you want, and eventually, the rent and bills will be payed, and mouths will be feed. Now i am a producer, just wrote my first screenplay, got the guts to send it to a national contest, and no matter the outcome, i am confident i will keep coming up with new stories. I'm still not a director, but i am in my enviroment, and that feeds me everyday. Even if i have to starve again, I would never do something different than what i truly love.

I wanted to be "the next Oprah". It isn't until recently that I now grasp what I meant as a kid when I said this. It wasn't that I wanted to be the most famous, powerful talk show host. But I knew at a very early age that I wanted to empower, inspire and celebrate the unique brilliance in others. Oprah has done soulful work and helped so many people along the way, and that has always been very inspiring to me. So, no, I don't have my own talk show, but I'm a yoga teacher, creativity coach and artist, and enriching lives is the dream I'm living and it feels really good.

When Martin Luther King, Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize I wanted to win one. Maybe SoulPancake will win a Nobel Peace Prize and then, my dream will come true, because I am part of SoulPancake. Rainn Wilson is working on peace, right? at UN? Has anyone heard this? Maybe we will be a positive force for peace somehow.

I loved entertainers and I thought it would be cool to entertain since I was 10 years old. I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and I'm still trying to do something. I have CD's and I have performed a couple of times, but no contract yet. I guess i'll have to cut my head off onstage like Alice Cooper?

One time, I was that child asked by an adult, "whadd'ya wanna be?" My answer? "A mailman! 'Cause you gotta be strong for carrying big piles of mail and boxes all over the place." That dream didn't pan out for me. It's okay. I think I'd abandoned it a day later anyhow, hoping for soldiery, which also didn't pan out.

Let's see.. First I remember wanting to become an archaeologist. Mainly though, I wanted to become a famous inventor like Thomas Edison throughout most of my childhood. I wanted to be the guy who invented flying cars. Instead, I'm currently studying to become an addiction counselor, and work the front desk at a Days Inn. I think my inner child understands.
