Esperanto (or something analogous to it) is probably a good bet. My friend and I tried to learn it to have a secret tongue but we got bored and realized people would be suspicious of us anyway, lol. If we're speaking of natural language... Korean writing is incredibly easy to learn. It's almost 100% literal, with no English "there, their, they're" stuff. Latin would be easy to teach a fair amount of the world's population I would think, as many are latin-root.

I would hope that Italian and English prevail. Italian is the most beautiful language out there. Yes, that's an opinion, but whatever. Don't know if this is true, but apparently when Italy was being unified, Dante Algeiri (spelling?), the poet who wrote the Divine Comedy, was chosen to combine all of the dialects, removing the unpleasant words and making it sound nice. As for English, you need redundancy in words. You need lots of cursewords, and lots of synonyms. It makes the language more colourful.

I think, as you stated, some crazy new language would be made that is better than the rest.

I think English is moving towards being the universal auxiliary language. Mandarin and Hindi are the most spoken, but I believe English is the most widespread language.

Good question! It makes a lot of sense to have a universal language. In fact, in the Bahai Faith we're taught that a universal language should and will be used n addition to one's mother tongue. Maybe Esperanto. It was a language specifically invented to use as a universal language. Maybe English. It's used by so many people around the world already that it would make sense. Or maybe we should go back to using Latin. It forms the basis of so many languages that many people (at the in the West) could effectively use it with some training. I think that some form of sign language would have to be used. Unfortunately not everyone has the ability to hear and/or speak. Maybe in the future everyone in the world will have to carry round flags and we'll communicate by signaling each other!
