This isn't as emotional as the other replies that I've read so far, but I love the sound made by Tibetan singing bowls. My friend recently gifted me a small one, and it makes the most hauntingly deep sound. I love to just close my eyes and feel it reverberate through me, because it has such a soothing texture. I also love the sound of rain falling, because it's rhythm is so relaxing. There are too many sounds that fill me up to choose from as the most beautiful.

This is a tough one, so many sounds are beautiful. Sometimes I just sit and listen to birds sing.

I walked into my grandma's room and stood by her bed. She was really out of it for about a week or so leading up to this point. She was heavily medicated because of the pain that cancer had caused. As I stood by her bed, she awakened, looked up at me with her bright green eyes, smiled her unforgettable smile, and said my name. At that moment, I felt as if no one person on this Earth could love me more than my grandma did. She'd said my name many times before obviously, but I had never heard it uttered so beautifully. It was the last time that she said my name, and her voice at that second was the single greatest, most beautiful sound that I've ever heard.

The roll of thunder as rain comes washing in over the mountains. Sweeping down to envelop or tiny town in a cascade of water. The thunder shaking the floor boards on our lodge.

Ity bitty beagle howls, from when my beagle monty was only 8 weeks old. He howled for the first time and not only was it hillariously high pitched but he scared himself. My cat purring while listening to the head phones I left on the floor playing the beatles "yesterday" on the day the US started going into the middle east after Sept 11th.

A shotgun blast. Was in Yosemite and a bear was outside our tent. I was scared to death and the ranger shot the bear with a shotgun (it was not filled with bird shot, but a slug to scare her) The shotgun blast meant the bear was leaving.

The laughter of someone who obviously is not weighed down by many of life's burdens. I have heard this in my children and from the people of Africa that served last summer. True joy filled laughter is on the same level as music to me.
