I think that any life, if understood, could be epic. I've always wished that I could deeply and completely understand those around me--imagine being able to know why people say the things they do--not the one reason that you'd guess, but the actual thirty forces or so that are determining what they say. Imagine all the complex reasons that go into a single sentence to a struggling friend. Feelings of empathy, love, concern, little bits of annoyance and selfishness that are quickly squelched (most of the time... sometimes we blow it). The rush of thoughts of what to say and the exact reason why you pick the one sentence that you do... If we could see that deeply, I'd be engrossed for days in studying the motives for a single conversation. I'd like to get ahold of that book for some of the people around me. Sure would be helpful at times :)

That's what's great about literature. It makes ordinary life events captivating. I love creating character's for stories with interesting names and personalities. A lot of our writing material is reality with a twist. Reality as in that time I went to McDonald's or man, was I embarrassed when I tripped on the stairs and everyone stared as I tried to grab my books and stop blocking the human traffic. Boring, better left forgotten moments caught on paper to entertain others. Novels are made through story lines and protagonists readers can connect to by their own experiances.

I feel the same way. If only I could write as well as my brain thinks. Then I'd have 10000000s of books... who would read them is a whole other question.

I'd like to think that the thoughts in my mind would make a good book (I'm not sharing them because I don't want anyone to steal my ideas, no offense). I'd like to create a graphic novel and/or screenplay. That would be awesome!

i guess so... i have so much running through my mind constantly... and i always say to myself, "write that down," and i obviously never remember. i think if i organized the thoughts in a certain way, they would make for at least a decent short story...

Don't be ashamed if you take meds. Literature is full of great writers who self medicated. although that is no longer necessary and it is dangerous.

That's the thing. We all think a book a day. Writing takes discipline. It doesn't magically flow. All our minds are too fast for us to put it all down on paper( or computer). Even people like Joyce or Pynchon, writing stream of consciousness style can't keep up with their minds. If you really try and can't be at all coherent, meds might help. if you really want to write.

Well, as I could never get all the stuff in my mind down onto paper coherently, I don't think the book would be al that great. But I do truly, truly believe my life would be the best novel/movie/series ever. Seriously, if someone could just live a day in the life of me, they'd be calling up Hollywood.

Also get Strunk & White's 'Elements of Style'. It's a small, but incredibly meaty book of grammar. Following their rules, you will never be lead astray.
