Hmm.... I actually agree that top honors must go to the pancake's svelte little cousin, the crepe. Reasons: 1. They are French. Eating them automatically makes you fancy. 2. They can be savory OR sweet. Versatility in breakfast food is key. 3. Eating pancakes make you feel doughy and heavy like a pancake. Eating crepes just makes you feel cool. Like you're sitting in a Paris cafe with a crepe in one hand, a cafe au lait in the other, a cigarette in your mouth, and a beret on your head, perched sideways. 4. The syrup factor: a. Waffles are tricky -- they act like they can hold all your syrup safe and sound for you, but as soon as you cut into them, they leak all over your plate. b. Pancakes are designed to drip syrup everywhere. c. Crepes hold their filling in a neat little roll. And if you tuck the ends in, there is no possibility of spillage. Although... pancakes are far superior for making breakfast faces out of eggs and bacon.... This warrants further research.

Waffle all the way man!! They're crispier than pancakes, and they have the niffty square craters that keep the syrup in line (well more so than on a pancake.) Waffles have more character!!!

Pancakes are more filling, but they are lacking in taste. Waffles taste great, but they are less filling. I'm a waffle lover.

Waffles. Hands down. Pancakes maybe soft, but really, what beats an eggo covered in melted butter and mrs. butterworks syrup? Nothing. Not even that home made pancake.

To me, waffles and pancakes are interchangeable.. They are both made relatively made the same way. Each you can put different fruits in, I think texture is the main difference. The only problem I have with waffles is that it's so difficult to spread butter evenly throughout the waffle and the syrup gets stuck along with the butter. Bleh, pancakes are easier.

I had the best waffles in Israel!!! They put ice cream and fruit on them it was awsome!!! I also like Crapes. . . There like pancakes!!
