Is that your photo? How beautiful. In my present, I start to reply, my son comes in, I think about how I should be cooking instead of playing on soulpancake (again!). I try to pay attention to my breath, I realize I haven't done a few things I mean to have done by this time each day. My present is a hodgepodge of here and past and present. Sigh - in my present, I really need to be doing some actual service to the family.... but it was so nice stopping by!

The present is now...now...now..now..now..now.. Meaning, the present is all about being aware of where you are NOW rather than making lists in your head of where you will be an hour from now or a day from now or a year from now. ALSO, living in the present means taking the lessons from the past, but accepting that it has past and nothing can be changed about it. Every second someone dies. Every second something happens, even to you. You have thoughts every second. A month is a month, a day is a day, but the present is NOW. So, for example, if you are enjoying a nice dinner with a friend out a restaurant, sit and enjoy that time at the restaurant. Don't think about the dishes in your sink at home. Just think about where you are now. Even when you are in an unpleasant situation -- just repeat to yourself "this is where I am now, but every second it changes". This is what is so special and unique about the present. I would suggest Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now". It's a great book if you are truly pursuing slowing down and enjoying the present.

"The present" is that which sits before you, wrapped up in festive paper with a bow! Not trying to be facetious! (Well, maybe a bit!). But think of it. The present is the only moment of time that sits before you that you are able to unwrap. The past is, well, past, and the future (even the next second), is temporarily out of reach. I wonder if we can only "move forward", when we stop to totally unwrap each moment that is before us? When we focus on the latter, the former just takes care of itself (such is the nature of passing time)

What a lovely smile you have. The present is right here, right now. The breath you are taking in is the present moment, and then the breath you release is the present moment, and so it goes, each moment falling away behind you as a new one enters your awareness.
