I believe we all have different archetypes and some have the explorer archetype....we are not all doing the same thing here on Earth...just like in nature..there is fungus, bacteria, trees, clouds....they all serve a different purpose....So do we. So, go and explore...and let the people who are planted where they are stay put.

I think fear it's because of fear and comfort. I absolutely have the desire to see certain things in this world, but am currently being held back because I don't want to step out of my comfort zone. And, ironically, my comfort zone is making me miserable.

I believe you can see the world without leaving where you live physically. I have lived 15 years on the seas in cruiseships through my firiend..I've never stepped foot on one but the stories she paints have filled me with memories...and a memory is a memory...IT the memory only remembers..it is a slice in time..and with words we can see worlds that are so foriegn and see them with complete clairity...so books and words can take you many places with you mind.

I think it has to do with not wanting to get out of their comfort zone and what's familiar to them. For some people, anything different is "scary" I LOVE differences. I'm a little scared to try eating bugs or what looks like slimmy nothingness (escargot) but I love seeing that people are basically the same everywhere you go. It's only cultural differences that make them "different" To me it doesn't matter what "color" they are or how rich or how poor. They all want to be loved and respected. I've seen 41 of our wonderful states, and 4 other countries....and LONG to see more!

Why would someone who's never had ice cream want to eat ice cream? You don't know what you're missing until you get a first taste :)

Just thinking out loud here but I think there are different kinds of maturity. For example intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual... and others?? Some people may have a higher degree, of say, intellectual maturity and perhaps low levels of spiritual and emotional. I feel this has a lot to do with an awful lot about why people behave the way they do, and do, or don't do in this case, things like seeing the world or having an interest in others places.

A lot can be seen in a small place. Ask Henry David Thoreau what he thinks about the shallowness of travel.

There are those with less exotic tastes, for one. Some don't have the means, and they tell themselves they don't want to explore. Mostly though its pure preemptive homesickness. 99% of the world's citizens don't feel comfortable outside their little niche. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion its how all life tends to be. Also not moving or traveling takes the least energy, that can't be underestimated.

My dad once explained to me why he would rather stay put than travel outside the U.S. Simply put, he believes there are so many amazing things to be seen in his own backyard that he's content just exploring there. I think what he told me has a ring of truth to it: some people don't need to travel the world to really see this beautiful world. At the same time though, I honestly don't think people like getting out of their comfort zone and traveling definately goes beyond that zone. As for myself, I will see the world. I've seen bits and pieces of it which only strengthen my desire to experience even more.
