The real question is not "whether or not". it is can we realistically do anything about it, and are the "remedies" proposed anything more than social engineering and wealth redistribution. It doesn't help the case of the alarmists that there is so much fraud and deceit. We need to conserve, and try to reduce pulltion, but that isn't what is being propsed for the most part. It is a lot of politics. Follow the money.

I don't care about it whether it's real or faked. The earth would evolve into something, with or without us.

It is very real, People would have to be pretty ignorant to think that it's fake.

I think it's a natural cycle, but is sped up by pollution and such. I think this since it has happened before after the ice age.

It is clearly real. There is no debate among scholars about this. There is no debate at all, other than the one ginned up by people for whom the regulation of carbon emissions would be financially inconvenient.

I certainly believe that global warming is real, but I understand why a lot of people are skeptical. Call me crazy, but if the people who can send a rover to Mars to do experiments tell me its real, I believe that they may know what they are talking about.

There are 4 parts to this answer that all tend to get mashed together:
1) Is the average global temperature trending upward? - The evidence is fairly clear that this is, indeed, the case.
2) Is this a natural phenomenon, or is it being caused by human activity? If the latter, to what degree? - While not as clear as the answer to the first question, the preponderance of the evidence points to human activity as exacerbating the warming, though the amount is not clear.
3) What, if anything, can THEORETICALLY be done to stop, and possibly reverse, the warming? - This is where it starts to break down. If we were to completely stop all "polluting" right now, would it reverse the damage? Or are we on a roller coaster that has enough momentum to just keep going no matter what? We don't know.
4) What can REALISTICALLY be done? This is the big one. We have to accept that we are not all simply going to abandon all technology and go live in caves. We have to accept that China, India, and other places are FAR more interested in becoming rich than in environmentalism and are not going to do anything not in their own best economic interests.
The only realistic solution is in developing new technology that can clean up the mess rather than pretending that the world will stop advancing so that the mess will stop being made.

What kind of "solid evidence" do the people who say global warming is fake have? Thats rediculous, global warming is absolutely real, proven by science what can happen with the increased levels of carbon emissions will do to our atmoshpere. Nothing serious will happen in our lifetime, but it is coming.

All I can tell you is that we never had storms like these back when I was young in the 1950s and 60s. I think the real problem is if it should be so that we are ruining the atmosphere- then there is nothing we can do to stop it because now everybody in China wants a car! Its a battle we can never win and it has to do with overpopulation of the planet.

I'm sure it's real, but I think certain alarmist groups and over-zealous environmentalists have exaggerated its effects in order to promote their own agendas through fear-mongering.

I agree, System, I'm not sure who to believe. But, it would seem to me it's a nature process that's being exacerbated by humans.

Hmmm. I don't pay a lot of attention to the "sides" . It doesn't take a rocket scientist (literally) to figure this out.

Is the earth warming? yes. Is the sun "cooling"? yes.
Both are billions of years old, and from what we do know of the lifecycles of planets, why should ours be any different?
It is, however, a matter of degrees, I think. does humankind "cause" global warming? No. warming is gonna happen no matter what. BUT...do humans cause it to "warm faster"? absolutely..how can they not? by spewing warming gasses into the air, what could possibly happen? The earth has been warming by an 'nth of degree for billions of years on it's own. and will continue to do so with/without humans. but all those plants and animals are not spewing petroleum and nuclear waste into the atmosphere ripping up the ozone layer. and destroying the water sources and the things that keep the layer intact..like the rain forests.
all those things cause more than /just/ the earth to warm. In just my little short lifetime I have seen the weather patterns "change".
Simply look at your car. stand back and look at the tail pipe. Is that 'air' being spewed out?
If it's "safe" why don't we all just suck on the tail pipe? then multiply that by billions and billions.
humans may not be the sole "cause" of global warming...but humans are a big contributor..and humans are the only ones who can "fix" it..or reduce it at any rate.

Global warming is happening (statistically proven).
But no one can beyond a doubt prove it is caused by humans.
Those two are different things, best not to mix them up.
We've had warmer and cooler periods on earth not even that long ago, when humans were not yet producing much CO2.

And we are a major part of the problem.
However, even if we weren't, our over consumption on a restricted budget is still lunatic.
