Easy = instant gratification?
Define easy.
Sometimes the option that first appears easier is ultimately more difficult, leading me farther away from myself.

As much as I would like to I rarely ever take the easy way out. I even at times make things more difficult than they have to be.

I would like to say yes, but my history tells me that usually I try to complicate things so that under the subterfuge of the other person's confusion, I can escape during their bumbling and have it look like it's their fault for not understanding how complex of a person I am. It's a technique I often use with great success when breaking up with girlfriends. You know the old "it's not you, it's that I don't trust myself with caring for someone as wonderful as you are because of my alcoholic father, and addiction to self-loathing." routine.

I am sure I have at times in my life. Most of the time, I get sucked in somehow, and end up taking the horribly long and painful way out.

Yes and I very rarely use the back door.

Seriously why should we look towards complications,

I try as much as possible to take the right way. How I make choices is through this question: Is this choice the easy way or the right way? I can't always choose the right way and try to avoid the easy way as much as I can, cuz living easy is boring. I've only got one life.

If there is an easy way, I take it. I think one would have to be something of a masochist to do anything else.
