I think in the end it all relates to fear, fear of being unwanted. No matter how great the first introduction goes, or how badly you want something people will always fear they are not good enough, its part of the human condition. people will always feel the need to underestimate themselves so that they do not let themselves down. And it is a rare few who have surpassed that feeling, but for the rest of us, although it may not feel like fear, that is what governs over our lives and keeps us humble and in control of ourselves. Because, in the end all you really can control is your own mind and even that gets loose and runs amuck most of the time. This is why people complicate life.

It's global conditioning. From birth we are taught how the world works, how things are supposed to be, how we're supposed to do things. Many films, books, music deals with the seeing through of this foggy notion. The monologues in Fight Club, the David Foster Wallace speech 'This Is Water'. Seeing through this notion, understanding the our world's can be as we want them to begins with spreading messages like the one in your picture. It's just old training and out-dated brain wiring and social constructs that are unneeded.

People 'complicate' life because they fear what will happen if they are totally honest with themselves or the world. Everyone is so judgmental. Even in this, you are judging those who fear being judged. It's an upsetting endless cycle. That doesn't mean we shouldn't get over that fear. It just isn't as simple as you say.

I wish it were that simple for me. I know it's pathetic, but fear of rejection is such a tough thing to overcome in my life
