The "Devil" complex: is humanity to blame for tragedies against itself or is it a deity which wishes ill harm on people?
Growing up in a predominately Christian family, I converted to Judaism for reasons yet known to me, however one thing that I noticed between the two theologies was the concept of evil. One uses a scapegoat (the Devil) for the shortcomings of humanity, while the other directs blame onto the individual for any wrong doings. I noticed that those who use the "Devil" to explain wrong doings against humanity against itself tend to be those who don't try to look into a problem that is there in society (my grandfather blames the Auroa murders on the devil) where as the other tends to look into the problem and investigate it (usually half heartedly). So then, what is the devil? is it the thing which we name for humanity's wrong doings and use it as a scapegoat, if so, why don't we take the blame for our wrong doings? Is humanity's true short coming personal pride? And what really is the good and the evil?
