Honestly, ask the spirit of a loved one to get in touch with you and then watch for repetitive signs, all you have to do is be open to communication. I believe in an afterlife so spirits attempting to communicate, to me, makes sense. You don't need a Ouija board.

I believe that a Ouija board can act as a medium in contacting spirits but the board itself is just that–a board with no special powers. I had a friend tell me about a creepy experience he had while using a Ouija board and that was enough for me.

Depends on what you mean by "work." They work fine for entertaining the gullible, but actually contacting the dead, probably not.

No. I don't think so.

But.... at the same time, I have memory of a time my family was into seances. I was 5 years old. The question my Mom asked of my lately departed Grandfather was, "Why did you steal my engagement ring?" Such a question could not be answered with yeas or no answers. Grandma called me to the table and gave me a tablet and pencil. I was told to let the pencil move where it wants to. I was too young to even draw. I had no ability to print or write in cursive writing. Yet, I wrote out. "The ring has fallen -- hole in pocket -- it is between baseboard and wall -- where coat is." I had no idea that I was writing. Grandma saved it and showed it to me years later, when I could see that it was written in clear cursive writing. That day, we went home and looked at the baseboard in the closet and there was Mom's engagement ring. I have no rational explanation for how that works. I do remember the pencil felt as if some force was pushing on it. It did creep me out. I remember sitting under the table, by the middle pedestal of an old claw-footed Dunken-Fife, and I saw the table lift up. There were no one's knees, nor hands lifting it. But it gave me a feeling that I needed to get out from under that table. It is an old heavy table. That same table sits in my screen room today. It takes two people to lift it and move it.
Creepy!

I once had a Ouija board. It just sat on a table and did nothing. I told the Ouija board it would have to either get a job or get out. I also told it that it would have to support it's own drinking habit, I was fed up with it drinking up all of my refined spirits from the liqueur cabinet.

My belief is that there are spirits out there with powerful spiritual assets: both good and evil. And the good ones are usually too busy out and about in support of good to be farting around with Ouija boards. Those are truly the low-grade (ie, desperate) evil spirits because they need "prop" to exercise influence over the physical world.

If you're not spiritually protected (or you don't know how), then don't mess around with opening the door on something spiritual that you don't understand or have protection against.
You never know what you might invite in to your heart and mind.
