I recently watched Limitless, with Bradley Cooper, about the guy who takes a drug that kicks his brain into overdrive - and - surprisingly that was a real conversation starter. We played 'what if' and it was very interesting to see what other people valued (even if they answered as a joke).

I just had a True Blood marathon so if your crowd hasn't seen that, and is into twisted fairytales and vampire porn, that's disturbingly fun.
Downton Abbey's great if you like period pieces, even if you don't it's fun to see inside a family adjusting to life from the time period when the Titanic sinks through WWI, and we play Shots! whenever the dog Isis comes onto screen.

what kinds of movies do your friends like? My grandaughter (who is 21) and her friends periodically come over to my house for "movie night" and they watch..ready?...Puss 'n Boots...Rango...Megamind..MIB..MIB2...those sorts of things. while I was in college, I held a movie night every friday at my apartment..there was a steady group of people who came..and what we did was each week..someone would pick whatever thier movie was and we would all watch it and make up our own lines..or backstories for the characters. we watched LOTR so many times we could pick out the cheesy parts. ;-) so, it doesn't really have to be a "good" movie. one fun thing we did was watch the 1930's version of Frankenstien and Wolfman. Now there is some funny stuff!

It depends on how old you are. Pick a comedy favorite that everyone can enjoy, Judd Apatow films like Superbad or Pineapple Express. If your friends want to watch something new, Little Miss Sunshine, V for Vendetta, or World's Greatest Dad.

"Smoke Signals"
It is set in a Coeur d'Alene native American reservation. It's about a young man who has to leave the reservation to collect his deceased father's ashes. He doesn't have enough money for the trip, so a nerdy friend offers to give him the money if he can make the trip with him. It's a sweet coming of age story and it's an interesting look into a subculture that most of us never learn much about.

You and your friends might like "In Time" with Justin Timberlake. I thought I was going to hate it and found the premise of the film led to some interesting post movie discussion.

My roommate (Vivi --- who is @Ivivan on Soul Pancake) took me to Disneyland for the pre-opening of the "Cars" area of California Adventure and I had a wonderful time testing out the rollercoaster "race" through the canyons. We ate at "Flo's Diner" and enjoyed park-hopper tickets --- so that I could shop in Disneyland and buy @EmeryPark all kinds of Captain Jack Sparrow / Pirates of the Caribbean hats, shirts, flags, bullwhip, and goodies. The Festival of Lights and water light show was breathtaking.
