The 18th amendment created "The Mob". The prohibition of alcohol caused more problems than it solved. History speaks for it's self.

Its prettyobvious that we are a drug culture. We use various drugs and we will continure to use drugs. Its a matter of what drugs would be less harmful in the long run. Certainly not prescription drugs, not hard drugs, but something which does the least harm to the individual and society.

We're at a sorry state if
a) we're trying to abuse any and all products just for the sake of a legal buzz
b) we're considering legalizing more potent ways of getting buzzed as an excuse so people won't have to risk abusing such marginal products
c) we're in a place culturally where we might start having to ban and control all kinds of useful products just to protect people from themselves. We just LOVE to talk about personal rights and freedoms. But what a conundrum when people start abusing these things on the roadway to abusing substances as a form of abusing themselves.
Maybe the rights should not be automatic but be reserved for those who show they can use these things responsibly and in proper measure with the responsibilities to the society that grants them these rights and freedoms?
Are we progressing or regressing?? Nanny State anyone?

Booze is legal, and people use other drugs. I am totally against the waste of money and resources that is the so-called "War on Drugs", but even if weed was legal, some people would want something "harder" and different. There are lots of good arguments for legalizing pot, but I don't think is one.
