My resolution was to be more nimble daily - change those things that would suit me and others well to change. I think I'm on track, but better than checking off an annual milestone, I have a fresh opportunity when it appears - daily, sometimes hourly - rather than a list from January.

Now about that need to exercise - hmmm...still working on that one!

I resolved to exercise more. Check.
I resolved to rest more. Completely failed on that one so far.
I resolved to stay smoke free again this year. Still going strong.
I resolved to give up fried foods. Not one single french fry has crossed my lips. (I'm really proud of this one.)
I've only been successful (overall) in keeping my resolutions for the last couple of years. But I made them every year since I was old enough to be told about them. Mainly because it was just what we did, along with eating corned beef and black eyed peas, watching the ball drop and getting a little tipsy. I didn't get serious until I realized it was time to make some changes in my life. New Year's is just a good starting point.

To clean up the tree branches in the side yard at Emery's, chop the wood and stack it.
To grow my hair.
To lose weight.
I still weigh the same. But I'm still on track with 3 out of 4.

Pretty good actually, probably the first year I can say that about resolutions, I resolved to:
- eat healthier: made a major dent in tackling the sugar monster so my daily sugar now is limited to the jam I stir into my yogurt or iced tea (that's probably a pound less of sugar a day, *g*). I switched sugary snacks to whole fruit, wheat pasta to quinoa pasta (easier on blood sugar & it's high protein), and reduced my cheese addiction to normal levels.
- exercise more: I now walk/bike to work from fair weather through light rain
- stop doing the things that I really hate doing or find a way to change/enjoy them: I'm more than halfway to goal

My one resolution was to end a certain emotional relationship that was ultimately unhealthy. It didn't work at first, but I think I'm very close.

I resolved a number of years ago not to make resolutions based on the arrival of a particular day.

And I'm happy to report that in this regard, I'm right on target!
I make many resolutions. But they are based on "need-in-the-now" and exist in real-time to address issues that might become apparent on any day of the year. To do them as part of a religious ritual tends to have one reaching for things that have not yet presented themselves as "pressing-in-the-now" and quite predictably . . . results are disappointing and sporadic.
