Christian scripture encourages followers to know what is good beyond just taking God's word for it. That many Christians don't bother to is a failure of church leadership. Still, I suppose Jesus would be unimpressed with anyone who took so much time to study ethics, preferring instead that they had followed all his advice and experienced it instead.

how did your visit with your daughter go? I am especilly interested because I know EXACTLY how you feel. My youngest son and I have been on the outs for like 10 years. and I understand the heartbreak one feels. BUT..my boys came out from CA this weekend! and I got to see my youngest and it was WONDERFUL!!!! (well, it was wonderul seeing my other son, too,but..well..) I just HAD to share this with somebody!
