I think a lot of this demonization of homosexuality from conservative christians stem from their views on sex in general. Christianity traditionally views sex as something intended for pro-creation and obviously two people of the same gender can't reproduce. Certain sexual practices such as anal intercourse are frowned upon by Christians as well and those things are usually associated with the homosexual lifestyle. Lastly, many gay men(lesbians too I suppose) tend to defy traditional gender roles through their style of dress, their mannerisms, etc.
These are just my thoughts on the subject anyway and I apologize if anything offends as it was unintentional.

Oftentimes the reason for rules or "commandments" is because it's something that we as a species tends to be blind to the long-term hazards of.

Rarely do we need rules or guidelines for the things that our current "common sense" can get a reliable handle on.
I don't know about you, but I can bring to mind far too many cases where, as a child, I thought I new better than my folks and demanded reasons for rules and guidelines. I would even try to rally "popular support" among my peers for why I new better than the folks -- and more often than not my peers agreed! Yet more than once I can remember hearing "Because I said so". And often these were things that I only understood the reason for much later -- and perhaps was even heard saying the same to youngsters that were in my care.
So why is homosexuality "bad"? I might come up with some guesses based on spiritual things. But what I do see is something that people become addicted to; something that the WANT and NEED and INSIST that others support them in lest the unsupportive be rapidly branded as hate-mongers or ignorant stupid people: something done behind closed doors that suddenly NEEDS to be a proud public display or a political issue or a religious issue or a reason to ruin businesses and try to exert all kinds of control over others. A personal "right or freedom" that by its nature needs to deny similar rights and freedoms in others . . . is a bankrupt, perhaps even pathological process.
So already there are negative psycho-spiritual and societal spin-offs.
More often than not I've found that the spiritual guidelines in Scripture that I could see no sense in at the time (even less if I was actively wanting to go against them), grew in clarity and wisdom over time. The ones I railed at and participated in, tended to burn me. And the ones I chose to avoid as an act of believing in God, gave me considerable relief later on at my having been proven correct for avoiding them.
So now, why is homosexuality "good"? Beyond it simply feeling good and being what one wants to do? (Remembering that we tend to be the most blind to the things we want to do because they bring us pleasure in the moment).

It's not bad. It just is what it is. There are all sorts of sexualities and variations. Oooops, I am not conservative, nor have I ever been Christian. I was Jewish and now I am Baha'i.

I tend to try and stay away from homosexuality because of my dislike for anal sex. My d**k into a poophole? No. Gross. Someone else's d**k into my poophole? No.

Otherwise, it is personality.
As far as tolerance troops truth? Tolerance troops truth.
Wait? Is that a sentence?

If the pursuit of self indulgences was the only goal of any sexual orientation; it would be just as bad as a man wanting to use a woman's body purely for his own sexual gratification, with no concern for her experience...and that happens all the time.

However, you put love into the equation and a desire to bring pleasure to your partner as the goal and that puts a different spin on it.
The problem, as I see it, is trying to put sex and love into a shared level of priority. As long as that perception remains; there will be a misunderstanding of how to consider this complex issue associated with relational dynamics.
Throw in the fact, that cannot be argued, the the primary biological function of sex and the associated hormonal influences to assist the human in wanting to procreate, and there is an undeniable understanding that the function of pleasure is being used for alternative purposes.
It's that triangle of love, physical pleasure and biological function that make this an unresolvable argument because of the complexity that occurs when you have three influences that eliminates and either/or solution.
And let's face the facts that our DNA is not at all consistent. If a chromosomal misconfiguration can lead to challenges like autism, then the alignments of the chromosomes will dictate a behaviour that is right for that configuration, although right may not be the correct word. Just because I think that I am "normal" doesn't mean my chromosomes are perfect; whatever perfect actually is??
To condemn a conservative Christian is just as bad as condemning a homosexual. I find it fascinating to watch people pick a side and judge. The judging is the wrong thing to do and people judge those judging, which seems to me to be just as counter productive as killing someone for killing someone.

The bible sais to f*ck in any way, other then that which is natural, and would bring forth child birth, is a crime in the eye's of god...But they fail to realize the fact that the pages in the bible weren't faxed down from heaven, and were writen by man....A LONG TIME AGO....Plus, most of them have never known a gay person personaly, and fail to see that gay's aren't harming anyone...Which is ironic, considering the fact that the Christian church has been responsible for some of the most vile deeds, in human history...

This has been tried. It doesn't work. All the answers you get will be along the lines of, "It's bad, mkay."

I think SoulPancake should more accurately be entitled, "Let's chat about homosexuality and religion." These two topics are ridiculously popular here.
