A promised land ?
It's first located into our heart. The heart is the sanctuary where we meet our Lord in peace if we make it so. We are constructing our own promised land with every emotion and thought. A land full of brim and fire or light and power. That land we plant with the flowers of virtues or the thorns of vices. That land we bring with us at death, indestructible.

I think it is meant to be taken symbolically, as something internal--coming into one's own, coming to an understanding of, and appreciation for, one's capabilities/strengths/wisdom.

This is no such thing because every "land" is the same. Mountains are mountains, dirt is dirty, water is water.

I don't believe that the Earth belongs to people. We belong to it. So, yeah. The concept of a promised land is horseshit.
