In theory, if there was hell, and heaven, then nope. Detachment is a virtue, and in heaven there is no space or time. It's all in your head :P

Heaven is a gay club in North London - Hell is another gay club not far away, but its a bit more full-on (with 'private' rooms and so on.)...

I am quite happy to see all the Christian deep thinkers who talk about an eternity - ensconced in either of those places - it would at least be entertaining...

Like their belief in God, they'll believe their babies are where they want to. For some mothers that will be heaven, for some it will be hell. This is why they'll baptize people after death or try to convince themselves they weren't really godless heathens.

If it makes you feel any better, the Pope basically shrugs and says that he guesses there could be a Limbo, even if it isn't officially recognized by the Catholic Church. Divine authority at work, y'all.

Are you asking in terms of an unbaptized infant, perchance? If so, I believe that if there is a heaven, that's where all infants go. There is nothing purer and more innocent than a babe, and I would reject any "god" who deems otherwise.

...seriously, the theological answer is that when you are in the presence of God, you become so filled with joy that all else is forgotten

Satan is more of a Richard Pryor kind of guy while Jesus sticks to topical humor. To each their own, perhaps they'll write each other but they won't have anything to really talk about, no common interests.

There's no reason to think heaven or hell exist. In fact, the paradox you proposed here is more reason to disbelieve such things. You wouldn't be able to be happy in that kind of a heaven, therefore it wouldn't be heaven and yet "God" maintains the name "heaven" which it is not really.

I've always wondered about this. I guess it falls under the ineffable category, but that's hardly a satisfying answer. I suppose my best guess (and it's only a guess) would be that heaven and hell are the same place that different people experience differently, and so perhaps the son would not be absent?

Your question presupposes a heaven and hell neither exist for me. I will end up some medical student's cadaver. My son will end up wherever he so chooses and yes, he is free to choose.

If you could feel devastate, I don't think you're I heaven, kind of defeats the whole purpose of heaven. What you're describing is life. If everything is the same in heaven, what's e point of all this?

Aren't you supposed to be incapable of feeling sorrow in heaven? I would also follow up with the question of whether or not you would question your god's judgment in the matter. What I mean to say is, if your god damned your child to Hell, wouldn't you be forced to agree with the decision, following the idea that god is the source of morality, truth, wisdom etc?

I would be MORE THAN HAPPY if my daughter burns in hell for the sh*t that she has done.
