Dancingplatypus shouldn't leave ...nor should anyone leave based on thinking they are not heard or they are misunderstood or they are in the minority of a thought.

To me the #1 rule of debate and negotiations is YOU NEVER LEAVE THE TABLE.
But if you're "over it" you are, nothing wrong with that either.
I wish you well Dancingplatypus what ever you choose.

Is this the wake? Is there some particular music that he loved that I should access and play at the moment? I agree with pretty much everything that bespectacled dog wrote, here, but am somewhat taken aback that he would go over this little tussle. Platypi gotta dance, I guess.

...I am left thinking its time I went cold turkey too...
I would not delete the account though, and I am pissed off at those two for doing so
because it means every interaction with them and all their posts, all their threads are deleted from the archive.
and seeing as their contributions to this site total a sum of wit, intellect and wisdom that fifty Rainn Wilson's couldn't muster after thirty years study in the Sorbonne - my disgust at the combination of factors that has led to this is pretty devastatingly total...
backward,
stupid,
and increasingly so,
this site becoming a safe place for the easily offended religionists is not anywhere that humankind will develop positively...

Yup he was great all right, but I am sure that his time is better spent elsewhere, i mean if he took the same effort that he took to be a part of this site he could have written a book or two.

Delete an account? I searched because I didn't know it's possible--can't find anything on it.

Dancing Platypus is one of the best of the best. Hands down. Brilliant, prolific, imaginative, insightful, funny as hell, caring, sharing. And he has a passion for educating. His time on SP resulted in helping many people (myself included) learn and grow - and yes, "explore life's big questions." Indeed!
He persuaded me to work on something that many have tried (and failed) to help me see for decades. To show more care and compassion toward those I rail against (earth-rapers). To always strive to argue and debate the hot questions with integrity. Give people an out. Professionally, because of him, I am a better writer.
This is a man admired by hundreds theists and non-theists alike. He had like 400 followers. The site and some of it's human components at the helm could learn a lot from him. The theists who didn't like him were mostly the ones who squirm when truth is put forth damn convincingly. Toss the baby with the bathwater...
When I think of the storehouse of his high-quality posts now gone forever from our access, it makes me feel a bit sick. There had been times when I was looking for something good to read, so I'd come to SP and read DP - and NEVER fail to come away more educated and enlightened on myriad topics!
As a result of this site, we became personal friends (one whom I value much), so I will remain in touch with him, but what a loss to SP. No sh*t. Were the mods smart, they would have hired him a long time ago - tho he likely wouldn't have taken the job, not one to be boxed in and all, but still, they could have found a way to make one such as him (not many like him around) feel more welcomed and appreciated!
This whole situation, for me, underscores SP's biggest flaw. Not allowing, with grace, this social experiment to unfold more organically and naturally. The repeated pokes and jabs at those whose life experiences have led them away from the blinding cloying effects of religion and on toward the light of reason have indeed become tiresome.
DP was once quite religious, and it was with studied integrity that he found a cleaner path. He helped wipe the grime off many a religious adherent's lens.
I love you Michael.

I like DancingPlatypus and all, but if he left for good reason he won't be back. If he left for bad reasons, then he shouldn't come back.
