How do you find calm in a hectic world, even if your home life is hectic?

Lately, I've noticed a trend with my mom. She comes home, complains about work and not being able to calm down after work, turns on the television, plays on her phone, and passes out with the television on. Not to mention, she has been known to get phone calls at 4 AM. So in a world so hectic, how do you shut it out of your life and find peace in a world where everything is so loud?
