What would you like to have as a secret skill?

I'm one of those girls who likes pink, wears skirts, and reads magazines.

But I've always thought that it would be bad a*s to learn how to be an auto mechanic + drive a stick shift.

You know, like a secret skill.

Can you imagine the surprise on some dude's face when I start fixing the... uhh... car stuff? (I clearly have not started my mechanic lessons).

i'm a girl who drive stick shift, and that is not an impressive skill. what is or would be a cool secret skill is being able to turn into a unicorn at will

I don't tend to keep skills secret very well...

But I have a few from people on SP, and they will stay the way.

Do or not do, there is no try.

I would love, love, love, love to be a great singer. It expands my soul to blast music and sing as loud and as hard as I can. I wouldn't want to do it front of other people though - they would cringe!

I have some really incongruous quirks, but I don't really think that they're skills. Most people don't know how much I really love classic cars or taking apart electronics. The skills I'd love to have I wouldn't keep a secret. Top of the list would be having perfect pitch and being able to pick up, tune, and play any instrument.

If you want to impress the guys you'll have to call things by their proper name. Fix the car doo-hicky!

I'm a big guy and have been told I can be quite intimidating. I'm trained in plumbing and am currently training to be a trucker. But I can express myself quite well in writing, in verse and in various artforms (sculpting, photography; at which I'm self-taught. I could probably sketch and paint if I really put my mind to it).

Many of my friend find me a bit of an enigma in the mix of abilities I have. "Secret" skills? I don't set out to keep them a secret. But they might seem that way to people who are trying to read the book of "me" by the cover.
(One reason why I work to let people be who they are going to be and not just presume they are going to be who I think they are or should be!)

I'm an extremely non-violent person... but I have a natural talent with most weapons.
I qualified to be a sniper with the US Army the first time I ever shot a gun. So now, the Army keeps trying to recruit me as a sniper even though that's a job which only a few women have.
My best friend took me out to teach me archery one day, and by the end of the day, I had become consistently more accurate than her and her years of training.
I picked up throwing knives after cutting someone by throwing cards at them.
All together, I know how to use most guns, throwing knives, K-BAR knives, bow staffs, bow and arrows, swords (that one took a bit of work, actually), and spears proficiently.
I don't even want to be able to do these things.
I'm Buddhist!
I'm not supposed to kill/hurt stuff!
But... I would totally win the hunger games.

I'd love to quickly become fluent in French, shortly before a trip to Paris with a date/GF. Then bust it out all sexy-like at great French restaurant by surprise.

I'd love to be a closet magician. Not that pedestrian sleight of hand, like pulling nickels out of my kids ears, but big and spectacular like Penn and Teller . Geez, my kids would get a kick out of that.

I think it would be really cool to be great at archery or fencing. how cool would it be to just be able to shoot an arrow perfectly every time, like freakin' robin hood(ess), or do the fencing thing to some guy and then take off your mask and there you are, a female.

I'd love to be a crackerjack web programmer. I'm good at web design and usability, but my brain just doesn't do programming. It would be great to just program whatever I needed in elegant ways. But I don't think it would be secret for very long as I'd use that skill all the time.

I always thought painting would be a fun skill.. I see myself as a creative person, I just have never grasped the art of drawing or painting by free hand.

Although, everytime something is wrong with my car or someone I know of.. I wish that I could fix cars, not only is it an awesome skill, it's valuable!

I would like to be able to solve any math problem anyone gave me. I would be the go-to gal for NASA and MIT. I would be everyone's favorite actuary and help any engineer with the necessary math needed to design equipment for seismic studies, encryption, and gravity. Newton, Archimedes, Gauss, and Fibonacci would have been envious of my skills. Alas, story problems still make me cry in reality.

Well, my current (not so) secret skill is I can knit a mean hat or scarf and I am really proud of that (yay for breaking stereotypes)! But if i could have another one I would love to be an expert carpenter. I have only just started learning the trade.

Musical instrument. Any musical instrument. I would like to be able to surprise people the way I get surprised when I learn for the first time that someone is skilled on an instrument.

I love it when it happens in odd circumstances like you are walking through a hotel lobby late one night after an evening on the town and a friend just sits at a piano and starts to play or buddy borrows a guitar from someone in the band and just starts jamming with them.

I think it would be awesome to know multiple languages without anyone close to me knowing. I would use them only at necessary times, not unlike Jason Bourne

I would love to paint. If i ever get around to getting the paints, I think it'd be neat to paint like the guy on the joy of painting.

I think I might be pretty crappy at the secret skill thing. If I discovered a skill I didn't know I had, I'd probably go public with it immediately, thus spoiling the secret. You know, unless it was something ridonkulously embarrassing. (insert shameless example)

Then again, it would be really cool if I ended up coming up with the secret to faster-than-light travel while I was absent-mindedly doodling on a cocktail napkin. A rocket scientist might walk by and be suddenly struck aghast, saying something like, "Of course! The transwarp calculations obviously must consider the tesseract as a fluid variable." And I'd say something like, "Huh? Oh, yeah. I guess. I just carried the seven, dude."
