it just depends. like, i love being able to check email and text on my phone. having a laptop is awesome (however i do not have one). i just don't like when people are driving and texting/talking on the phone or when your talking to a someone and they are texting right in front of you. Technology has helped in a lot of ways, but in some cases it is turning our world into a selfish, unsocial world. I hate that people are dying just because they are crossing the street minding their own business or just driving their car and some as*hole, who can't wait to get home and answer that text or return a phone call runs them down.

Helped the areas that use it. Ruined the areas that don't by turning them into toxic e-waste villages.

And I think that if it contributes to the well being of the world , it is very useful .
For example , advances in the growth and distribution of food could be considered thus .
Military technology and the development of weapons of war are not ..

Define "technology" and then define "society". Until then, I'll just have to answer "No."

There's not enough to go on -- though I'd love to hear a few more details to be able to help me answer the question.

I am a critical care nurse. Frequently I see the upside and downside of technology. I see medical miracles a lot. I see travesties of modern technology a lot too.

In my opinion, technology has made it easier to prolong life: so much so that long life is now expected, as if cumulative years outweighs quality of years. So I also frequently see technology used to keep people alive that... perhaps would be -- I hesitate to say 'better off dead' but I can't think of a better phrase. Maybe they ought to be allowed to pass on and transition into death.
Usually it's families who choose the "do everything to save mom/ dad/ grandma/ grandpa/ etc" route, even when it's CLEAR that mom/ dad/ grandma/ grandpa/ etc are gone, yet their bodies remain physiologically alive.
I often wonder if that fact alone is "good" or "evil"... It's almost as if humans are so desperate to live forever that they are willing to sacrifice quality of life for medical technology. And so we have people kept alive by feeding tubes and ventilators with devices in pouches under their gowns that help their heart pump blood even though they're on dialysis because their kidneys failed and they soil the bed because they've lost bowel and bladder function-- people for whom the families insist on "doing everything" because they think, with technology, that grandma will "pull through."
I had this revelation while I coded my umpteenth fragile old grandma brought in from the nursing home with urosepsis as I broke her ribs with chest compressions in my desperate fight to keep her alive with the most cutting edge medical technology.

Let's see...
Many medical illnesses and diseases are a problem of the past because technology has helped us to research cures and preventive measures against them.
People who would otherwise be alone and dependent on others are capable of living a normal life without the help of another person as a result of technology.
Parents and less-fortunate students are able to attend classes and get a higher education without leaving home as a result of technological advances.
File storage, record keeping, and other things in that field have seen vast improvements.
We're able to see news and events from the other side of the world. No longer are we bound by oceans, language barriers, etc.
Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
I'd say technology has helped society...a lot.
