Can you choose your reaction to violent crime?
I'm inspired by the citizens of Norway's refusal to allow hatred to permeate their daily lives in the case of the Anders Behring Breivik trial:
Does violent crime change you fundamentally? Does it have to? Can you consciously choose your reaction to it?
As an American living abroad Norway's behavior seems in such sharp contrast to the behavior in high profile U.S. trials (lawyers, media, public).
