Extras was the last thing Ricky Gervais did where he self-satirised this successfully.

His tweets and his more recent work (Life's too short, interviews and more) seem to show someone who has much more embraced the celebrity "culture"
- which disappoints me because all the savaging of it in this clip is nothing if not an understatement of just how stupid hollow-ego based and shallow the whole showbiz world is...

(which is why I got out of it)
