I just finished some books by John Gottman. There is a scientific way of guaging. And yes, the coat thing comes into play... Just saying. Its not specifically about sacrifice as much as earning trust. And trust is something that resounds in economics, and politics. The computations have a little to do with Game Theories. So you might want to brush up on your theoretical math first. Part of it is human perception, but if you're a big cold hard science fan, his books and research is very interesting. Large sampling, and longitudinal studies do help to back up a lot of his claims.

Just my two cents.

Love is complicated, but if you get a chance to experience it, do so. Whatever you feel at the time will ultimately enrich you with more love than you had before. So much that you will want to share it.

Love is putting the toilet seat down so your lady doesn't fall in when she sits down.

Ah, this reminds me of one of the first "arguments" I had with my first love. It was cold and we only had one jumper. We kept insisting that the other have it...

I think love is not based upon the level of intoxication you feel, nor the eager or poetic words you might receive from another. It is an act...or rather, a consistent series of actions that demonstrate their needs are at *least* equal to your own.
