Wait, I don't get why you're bashing authors. I thought SP was a place where we acknowledged and enjoyed literature, art, and creativity.
Or are you just hating on her because her books are popular and not up to your standards with what a popular book should be? That doesn't seem right...

After seeing all the stink that went on here at SP over "Randians" I wanted to see if all the fuss was warranted. I read "We The Living" which was her first book and was pretty damn good actually, a page turner for me personally. I then stupidly bought Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. I tried reading "The Fountainhead"... I really really did... but it's just so god damned boring and disjointed. "We The Living" was the first and probably the best novel she ever wrote. Probably because to some degree Rand had experienced first hand what she was writing about and hadn't yet gone entirely off the deep end. I haven't read even page one of Atlas Shrugged simply because of how much of a disappointment The Fountainhead turned out to be.

As far as her personal philosophy goes, as far as I can tell growing up in communist Russia was enough of a bad experience for her that she ran for the extreme opposite direction. Extremism though is never the answer. Perhaps Nietzsche said it best "be careful when you do battle with monsters, lest you become one." I think in Rand's case that's exactly what happened.

She was a Russian immigrant who could barely speak English. I couldn't even finish atlas shrugged myself, it's incredibly long and boring. The characters make speeches instead of conversation.

Doesn't change the significance of the content, ayn rand brought a very powerful defense for capitalism. The butthurt leftists and their ad hominem attacks on ayn rand aren't really proving anything other than how butthurt they are.

Anyways I'm not really into it anymore so bringing me up wasn't neccissary. I don't really care for her brand of morality or all of her reasoning. But there definitely nuggets I'll take with me.

No, but I never read her work. Has she been examined by a psychiatrist? I remember some people did many years ago. I forget who they are.

It's fairly obvious that the appeal goes directly to the brain in the male penis, which fears shrinkage and so inflates to reduce this fear. I'm not saying size matters, but size really does matter here.
