sometimes I feel like it's a mistake that I half want to pursue music and drop my film major degree (despite film still being an interest of mine). It's my greatest passion...but sometimes I feel like it should just be kept as a hobby. I'm allowed to keep something I love doing as just a hobby. I just have to try to convince myself of that for the next couple of years.

at the same time, i tell myself that why would i be doing anything else other than what i love and have a deep, deep passion for?
in short, my hobbies and interests completely define me. they've taught me a lot about myself, i've met unforgettable people through them, and i will surely be doing them for the rest of my life.

Extremely important, we often don't realize that we use our hobbies, and our interests to achieve tasks everyday, we often think on a personal mental level of our interests, which then can give us character based on our hobbies, and interests, depending on how open you are to your hobbies, then again that also shows your character, and who you are.

I feel like this is a question of my old critical thinking class. I guess it depends on what you mean by who "you" are.. I think that maybe your intentions and character may describe who you are better. My hobbies change often and right now I am a stay at home parent but later I may be a marine biologist. I don't think those things define you. We deal with this in the military. Spouses choose their friends based on their husbands job. Just like as a parent who shouldn't have to be friends you your childrens friends parents. I totally think its completely based on your values... who you are that is.

These aspects define the person's personality... I mean, you can get to know which things he/she considers interesting or important. My hobbies are reading, learning languages, travelling and meditating.

I think verbs are what we are all about and hobbies and interests are all about verb-ing. I can deconstruct any noun pinned on me by converting it into it's verb constituents in seconds flat.

I think you'd have to split them into choices, reflexive & conscious, before being able to say they describe someone accurately.

I feel that if one's daily routines and interests are self driven and purely out of interest they would be an accurate description of that person. However, many people simply act in ways they want others to perceive them or simply on the wishes of others, which would depict a false description of their true self. The bottom line would seem to be are you acting on your own behalf or for the benefit of others.

Interests reflect directly back on a person's personal preferences, what draws them in almost instinctually. Hobbies and daily routines are also a reflection of a person's temperaments through their action. I'm interested in art, music, and writing--it is not a personal choice of mine, just something that tugs at my soul, pulls me in, makes me happy or sad, it triggers me emotionally. My hobbies, such as chilling here on the internet, making attempts to interact with people, watching enthralling TV shows, giving a bit of time to myself just to relax every single evening. These things, intertwining into each other, indeed help to describe who I am. They are not everything--they are not my thoughts, my temperaments when I interact with someone, but they are a part of who I am.

It is a variable, but, for me, routine is a matter of what I get the time to do and placement a personal god. Being in the right place is more important that having the time to get there. But I find it almost impossible to do that since I am vaguely allergic to strategy. Fortunately, being aware of this has gained me a life, a wife and more friend s than enemies, other than of the kind I generate.
