If the world does see a time without racism, it will be replaced with some other kind of pointless discrimination. We have a tendency toward separating ourselves into "us" and "them," but I think it's just in our nature.

People are always going to find ways to classify each other and one group will be held in high regards and the other won't. It gives people something to complain about- we all know how much people love to complain.

i have no idea, but the diversity of skin color, eye color, hair color, all of it is just a body, not who we truly are, it's so pretty though, like we're all part of a large collective body of humanity and we make up a rainbow - i hope people can look at ourselves that way. again, learn from the animals - not like the golden retriever says, "eeww, look at that pit bull 's black hair".... hopefully we're on our way back... we've gotten so far from who we truly are.

Technically, it's inevitable, because RACES will be bred out within a few centuries, and we'll all be dark-haired and olive-skinned. But I think racism will be all but dead within a couple more generations. When you consider how far we've come in 50 years, it's actually happening very fast.

Racism will only disappear when the collective ego diminishes. The ego requires an "other" to be against in order to make you believe you are separate which is our basic delusion. Acceptance and allowance is the only way to free ones self from this illusion. We must all evolve. It is the only way to true freedom.

Once people realize that race was a social construction rooted in colonialism, people will realize that it doesn't matter, whatsoever. It's just a process of othering everyone who isn't white.

We don't have to create ourselves, by describing someone else. It's simple. It's just a lack of education, really.
I vote that we erase, race. #Erace. Race is merely color. It doesn't dictate your culture, beliefs, or ethnicity.
I always wonder how a person would describe another person without talking about what they look like. There's only one conclusion, you'd be forced to describe their character. Is that such a bad thing?

Here's the thing. I think we can help weed out the bad intent of racism, but on some level, I think it will always exist. It gets passed down and enters our consciousness in such sneaky ways that it's inescapable because it becomes more of a reflex than a conscious decision. Some racism is ingrained within us by our family groups, by media bias, by experiences. And if we're never taught that it's wrong, it carries on.

Now, can we live in a world where people are taught to acknowledge their prejudices, then rethink them before acting? I hope so.

Racism is but one symptom of hate (which is fear worn inside out). We can try to eradicate the symptom without really touching the root cause. And such a campaign to eradicate a symptom could never keep it from re-manifesting. It's actually inevitable it re-manifests.

Address the root issue of hate (aggressive fear), and the symptoms will drop away. If you still muster hate for that person who just cut you off in traffic . . . it might as well be racism. Or sexism. Or the judging of person for being or looking or acting different.
It all comes down to fear of what is different -- and chances are we've all had our run-ins with this mindset.

That would be awesome if that could happen even within 50 generations but I doubt it will. Oh wait, there may be a solution. If aliens were to visit then racism would die out. Just like dancingplatypus said below.

We might be able to live without racism. If we could just get rid of the undesired races.

America… or the world for that matter has fallen prey to a gang, tribal, Sunni Vs. Shia, territorial mentality. Anymore, we only look for the things that divide us, rather than what unites us. So the answer is no, as long we see ourselves, and those with dissimilar complexions, as something other than one of us, racism will persist.
With the rapidly changing demographics and the inability to strike a balance, education won’t be the only thing we are left behind on. The "us against them" way of thinking is destroying us all. However, there is HOPE, if we are able get over ourselves and begin working toward solutions.
Black, white, brown, and yellow... we all have blood on our hands… and our heads are too far up our butts to care.
The truth is we came to be called, The United States of America, because of geography. No doubt it had nothing to do with the song Kumbaya.

Racism is a fruit of tribal thought. Our own brand of racism will end the day an alien race (read: common enemy) pops its head(s) up.

sadly, it's human nature to always find differences in each other. whether it's race, gender or preference for action movies, we will always have differences. some people embrace them, others despise them. but it'll never be the case where everyone embraces them or everyone despises them.

With the vast increase in bi-racial births we are starting to see all of the colors blur. Eventually the 'unmixed' races will be the minority and just maybe racism will swing the other way but that's hard to say at this point.
