Who is the most loyal person you know?

Loyalty is a dying art. Really. I prospect for it in friendships, in my career, in plain observation of the human race. Loyalty seems to have become a weakness of sorts—that those who can really do, can do it for themselves. So I regularly seek loyalty out. And when I see it—I reward it. Like this list of the top three loyalists I know:

1) My dad. He is inherently loyal. And trustworthy. And passive.

2) My old buddy David G., who would back you whether you were right or wrong, a sure winner or a sure loser. If he called you “friend,” you never were a worry for a wingman. Oddly it was I that was ultimately disloyal to him, and we grew apart.

3) My wife. And its not so much that she’s loyal, but that she forces self-loyalty. No nonsense, in a way, prevents self-interest, and self deception, and commands one to be loyal to oneself, in a teaching the hungry to fish kind of way.?
