There is no one definition of God. I imagine that it varies from person to person. God is more of a feeling for me. It's a feeling of understanding that almost everything can be beautiful, but you don't know why. It's also a feeling of being small and insignificant but at the same time understanding that you have value. And being thankful for all of that.

First a little question: if you want to know about God, who is the only person that can truly give you information on God? The answer, logically, is God Himself. So a true seeker should use his or her intelligence to find where in the great spiritual traditions of the world, God has spoken about Himself in detail. This will lead you to the ancient and rich tradition of bhakti-yoga, or Krishna consciousness – in such texts as the Bhagavad-gita, the Srimad Bhagavatam, the Upanishads and complementary texts written by great masters of this tradition.

There you can find an endless treasure trove of information on God, His abode, His associates, how to connect (yoga) with Him, etc. Objectively speaking, there is simply nothing like it in any other religious or spiritual tradition.
There is so much information, so a little reply on Soulpancake won’t cut it, but here’s a nice starting point: http://www.stephen-knapp.com/sri_krishna.htm.

I do not believe in a God that exists outside oneself. I believe God is but a name for the universal law we all exist within. Our human existance is an expression of the universe and ones karma (good or bad). I don't believe that heaven or hell exist outside of oneself. Raised as a Buddhist, I've never been taught a belief in the traditional idea of God however I am reading a book by Wayne Dyer, The Art of Manefistation, and in it he suggests that if God were the ocean and you were but a cup of the ocean, would the cup of ocean still be God? Of course. We are not separate from the source but are expressions of the source, no difference.

I like the idea of a Prime Mover. Or the Ruler of the Universe. God does not negate the advancement of science and it is not negated by advancement. I tend to lean towards pantheism and believe that God has different names, different incarnations, etc.
However, I like to think of God as the friend that is beside you always. They don't judge you. They love you. They help you through the tough times and are with you at times of celebration. They listen, but like a psychiatrist, they rarely give you direct advice. Rather, when you ask God a question, (s)he just repeats it back to you for your to answer yourself. I find him/her mostly in music, nature, and silence.
(S)he is what you choose to believe and although we share meaning and understanding in our respective religions and beliefs, to me it's a personal expereince that no one else can quite describe or understand. Everyone is different with a different perspective.
Again, God is omipotent, omnipresent, the beginning and the end. It's really hard to describe it with one definition.

God is Love
This might seem like an oversimplification, or even just a word, but I believe love is that which exists beyond the physical world and that it is what is capable of causing you to not die when the physical world eventually passes from you. It might be more accurate to say that Love is God, and perhaps there is more to God than love, but love is unquestionably the central feature of God in my opinion and where love exists is where God exists in the world. We are all capable of it, and I hope that Love is able to carry us all into eternal life. I believe that is what God wants for us all, and all the messages and interactions God has had with us was to try to teach us this. That's my belief I have formed over the years, in studying Christianity.

Or even where God exists for that matter? I can't say I know the answer to God but I think God is a greater concept that exceeds anything we ever imagined. We ask many questions and maybe god is the one answer--the ultimate knower/creator/destroyer. I don't believe god is some being sitting and judging my way of life but rather, is bigger than me and you and everything that has and will happen. God (I won't get into he/she) is love, master, creator, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent. God is what you need just when you need it and how you will accept it. Some need formal religion, some would avoid that with every fiber of their being. I have found God to be a very personal thing, intimate is more probable. I could not tell you what GOD IS that would be appropriate for all who ask. I can only define what God is for me.

The definition of God depends on your belief about who God is, or what belief system you are referring to. God may refer to a patriarchal figure, such as a single entity that presides over all things. God may refer to a "force" such as in Star Wars, to give an example I like. To some, God is defined as that which controls all things in the universe. Some don't believe that is the role of God, and not agreeing with this role of God thereby changes the definition of God. Some believe God is an entity that created the universe and set the universe into motion, and then left it alone. This God would have a different definition than the other, and they are not mutually exclusive. That is to say, typically God seems to be defined by His perceived role.

Often when people use the blanket question "Is there a God" they are really asking if there is simply anything more to the universe than the physical, scientific realm. Furthermore, they are probably defining "God" in this question as an immortal being that has certain living characteristics - like consciousness. The more assumptions added on to this concept of "God" (such as omnipotence and omniscience), the further one person's definition will differentiate from another person's.
This is to say its not so easy to say "let's all get on the same page about the definition of God so then it's easier to debate." You might be able to argue for or against one definition of God, but then someone can propose innumerable alternate definitions.

Meaning God is No-Thing.
Not a noun, not an object, being, person, creature, entity, or anything we can define. Trying to define God cheapens and deludes what God is, and this had lead to the problems spiritual people have today as their definitions of God fall short.

God is a man made entity that primitive, illiterate tribes in the dessert invented to explain the world around them. If we believe what is written in the Bible, God is a mean spirited, jealous, hateful, spiteful, unpredictable, wrathful, murderous and bloody minded entity who will gladly wipe out thousands of human beings at a whim. Who will happily flood the entire Earth because he isn't getting enough attention. And who would violently separate the human race into nations because they were trying to understand him.
God exists in the sense that people believe in his existence enough to have an effect on the material world. Of course each interpretation suits the individual interpreter. Which means that since the dawn of this idea there have been wars, conflicts and pissing contests to determine who's imaginary friend is the real one.
God is inescapable. For as long as we fear death we will need him in some guise or another. In language, God is also inescapable. Often referred to by physicists and other scientists to describe something majestic. I.e this from Albert Einstein...
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings."

That's exactly what makes debating God such a tricky conversation. I've had conversations with people who vehemently oppose both religion and atheism. They claim to believe in God but they have their own unique understanding of him or her or it. That's why you should ask people what they specifically believe because by posing it as a yes or no question (‘Does God exist?’) you end up grouping people with contradictory ideologies into the same category. The yes column will be divided into countless sub-factions on issues such as whether or not God is a conscious being or just a metaphor for existence, whether or not there are multiple paths to god, whether or not there is an afterlife, whether or not God condones specific behaviors, whether or not murder is ever justified, whether or not God interferes in human affairs, whether or not God created the earth thousands of years ago or just set the laws of physics and place and backed away, etc. etc. Even within specific faiths and sects it seems that individuals have their own unique definition of God.
That said, if I ever use the word God I use it to mean "everything that exists".

first off we shouldn't anthropomorphize deity, so words like "Gods will" or "the hands of God" really don't apply. God is the "unmoved mover" or the first cause, the being who set in motion this perpetullay growing changing and evolving cosmos. Not to say that deity is some cold calculation, all one needs to do to see God is turn their heads around LOVE is all around you. We also have to separate God from organized religion, Now I'm in no way condemning them because so many churches have introduced God to so many. Ultimately though no matter where they come from or how old they may be, they are all localized definitions of an intangible essence made apparent through observing the works of God. Despite that rant, God is infinite Love, compassion and almighty. Truly the "unmoved mover" ο? κινο?μενον κινε? ou kinoúmenon kine?

One thing I am fairly certain of - is that IF...
...big IF...anything is definable as God,
then None of the versions popularised in the various child -oriented fantasy books (Qura'n, Bible, Bhagavad Gita, Baha'i scripture, Book of Morons, Planet psychoCruise, ) get any closer than Santa Claus...
and at least Santa Claus just has a "reward for being good" system and is otherwise an OK guy...(whereas all the others appear to be judgemental, mean, capricious as*holes)
so it is clear that God is most likely an impulse...
for those who are developed adults in a rational world the impulse tends towards the pantheistic idea of wonder at the entire Cosmos, for which the word God is seen as appropriate.
for those less secure or less developed people, (everyone, bar a very few, prior to 1800) who prefer the word God to contain answers to questions of life and death,
- then they tend to find one of the old fashioned religious ideas works for them
for those open to mystical experience but appalled by the chidlishness of the concrete answer brigade - (like me!) there is something about the collective human consciousness position that may actually achieve a higher level of non verbal communication within the species
...that is probably best NOT called God,
but which may be the root of why people get such intimations of something "more powerful than ourselves"...(then stop looking properly)
I see this as like an ant colony - well capable of acting as one organism, when in fact we are multiple individuals unaware of that greater reality....
we are human ants,
God is a creation of the species colony. One that may effectively exist.
or...
it may just all be bollocks.
