Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"

The problem about searching for truth if you've already found it is you may be deceived into thinking something else is truth (or you yourself have it), you loose the truth you had for a damnable lie

to carry on searching for truth is a good scientific goal - not expecting to "solve" the mystery, but in gaining some understanding, open a door to more questions...

we see this most excitingly in the exploration of the very large and the very small -
Dark Matter, galactic photography, the genome, and quantum physics and nano-technology were pretty much unheard of in my youth...
fascinating
unfortunately the religions are still as dull and concretely constructed from BS as ever....

I think it important that we bear in mind that rejection of received wisdom is often seen as a rejection of those who imparted it. It is simple to sit and discuss ideas with strangers, but less so, when dealing with the strange ideas we become familiar with.

By realizing that we all tend to be a little lazy, opting for beliefs that are "easiest" to us. We "shop" for "truths" that we deem to be "truths" simply because the affirm us. We don't have to do much to believe that these are "truths" that if adhered to, will benefit it.

And they probably already have in that they've "catered to us"

You have to live truth, before it becomes real..Never have I seen so many ask,"Who am I"..When all they need say.."I am what I am" a creature of constant change..Whats my name?..an old saying..The name does not create the human.. the human creates the name..

That’s an excellent question. In the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna speaks of a philosophical search for Truth. We should not be satisfied until all our questions are answered and everything makes sense. Revelation is no reason to discard reason. Both are necessary in our quest for God. God gave us heart and brain and we should use both. Srila Prabhupada, the great bhakti-yogi saint of the 20th century, used to say that “the proof is in the pudding”. In other words, if you are not truly becoming a better and wiser person, than you need a better process of enlightenment, of self-realization.

It's quite simple actually. You need to quit belief, when you have to use that word then you know you're not questioning enough. Belief means "I don't know, but I'm going to pretend as if I do because it makes me feel better." The thought can stop at "I don't know." and then lead to "I should find out more so maybe I CAN know!"

It also helps a lot to get into debates or arguments with those who contradict your "beliefs" or understandings. In almost every argument, at least when you're a young man like me, you'll learn something you didn't know before. About yourself or about others. Sometimes, that new information will contradict your current understandings. At that point, we all have a choice to make. Keep "believing" in what you were before or accept the fact that you were wrong and that you have to change the way you think. Most people just keep believing despite contradictory evidence, it takes a brave person to change.

How do you make a person not like sex? Without damaging them, I'm not sure you can.
