I suppose I am not from a "normal" American family. nor is my current family "normal" either, I suppose. both my husband and I worked...neither of us was considered the "breadwinner" even though I made more money than he. and homemaking responsiblities are shared. I do not clean house, nor ever have, because it is my "job"...I clean house because I don't want to live in squalor...and he does the same thing. and that is the way it worked in my parents house.

but, here, I think is kind of a funny "role reversal story" : some years ago my mom and I went to the grocery store. I went to get some milk, and my mom said to me:"be sure to get the one with the closet use by date". I responded " thanks for telling me , mom, I was just about to pick the one that said "about to sour"..we had a big laugh over that. a few years later, my daughter and I were shopping and she went to get some green beans. I told her: "be sure to pick out the green ones and not any black ones" my daughter responded " thanks mom! I was just going to the bin marked "rotten beans"!" lord, I have become my mother ;-)

Well, one weird one is when I walk into our family room, only to see my dog in my favorite chair and I end up watching the TV from the chair that ends up giving me a crik in my neck.

It bugs me because she's not even watching.

Your story mirrors much of what happens in my family. I run my company from home, do the shopping the cooking the cleaning. And until recently my SO was the one going to work. Now she sits at home, goes shopping and does girly things. But, my brother and brother in law are also the primary homemakers in the family.
