either God is good but not all-powerful, or God is all-powerful but not totally good. these two qualities cannot exist in one God as long as rape, genocide, and hate exist. i choose to believe that God is good but not totally in-control. and i am comforted.

The fact that we and the world around us was created shows that God Himself is creative. He is also a loving, jealous, angry, sad, merciful, and just God. He has emotions. He is also protective and nurturing and strong. The Bible tells us all of this. Of course, you can't look at mankind as an exact blueprint of God, because sin has distorted us. We are tainted and flawed, even when we try to behave well. I think this is part of why it's so hard to wrap our heads around who God is. We try to understand from our small, flawed perspective something great and perfect and beautiful.

People with a great faith in God have laid down their lives for other people in some of the worst situations. No doubt there are evil men and they do evil things, but take the Holocaust for example. People were told that if they hid any Jews they would be killed as well. That did not stop them. There is no way to have that great powerful love without the situation of killing and hatred.

It all depends on what it is you feel God is. If you base your life and all your problems on God then your probably going to have something negitive on what God's roll is. If you feel as if there is no God then your probably going to say somthing like “he’s absent” or “he does'nt care”. And if you believe God is within yourself you’d say;

God is a bit of a s****t, because some of his creatures kill and eat other ones. Rabbits and mice live in fear. God believes in the survival of the fittest. He likes humans, bears, hawks, and lions better than vegetarian creatures, even the most innocent. Thus he is a Darwinian. God must wonder whether he really exists.

We were created in God's image and likeness, but having said that, we disobeyed God and He cursed creation. The Good News is He is coming back soon to restore all things.

You want to creep yourself out? Go to the maternity ward of your hospital sometime, and check out the room where they keep the new born babies behind the glass. While they resemble their parents they all resemble each other, and this suggests a third contributer.
Weird.
