I think at least a little bit of everything we do is driven by fear. O well, it could be argued that it is.

Not everything. Most fear we have is just a fear of being wrong. It influences everything we do. Accepting it and admitting it is true strength.

Fear drives a lot. It's an underlying motivation for what I do, at least. I don't want to get bad grades for fear of getting kicked out of university. I don't want to disappoint my family, so I keep on the straight and narrow. The thing is, though, I'm also motivated by love at the same time. I'm passionate about what I study in school, therefore I take the time to learn and understand what I'm being taught. I want my family to be proud of me so I try to do good things. I want my girlfriend to be happy (because she makes me happy) so I do what I can to make her happy as well. Fear motivates a lot, but love motivates you to keep going.

I am sadly driven by fear. But sometimes it makes me who I am. Not that I enjoy living in it or have been affected by it dangerously or my kids and neighbors. But I do think I am a stronger mom, woman and advocate most of time because I know what to expect. Yet other times...I am very weak. And I am so driven with it, I can become very ill and taken back. I am in therapy for it and have been for 8 years. I am trying to see the light not the dark. I think some people might not even know they have these issues. Whether it be denial or just not knowing. There is so much diversity and differences and envirnomental changes going on, alot of people just deal with the here and now with out even realizing what was happening or what to do next.

It is our education and bad habits that push us towards fear, anxiety, depression. Our culture based on time and money, materialism and short term mentality push us to these states of mind. We need to make a real revolution inside ourselves to change all those years of bad messages.

I believe I have have the creative power to create the overall experiences that I live... Therefore living with fear would not attract positive experiences. If I want to overcome challenges in my life and create a happy life, I must continue to think, feel, behave with courage, love, joy and compassion. Like attracts like..

Fear is wonderfully primal and pure and real and good. Fear panics-up from our inner brain causing the amygdala to hijack our intellect, putting emotions in charge of split-second decisions. This is a good thing when decisions must be made in fractions of a second. Fortunately for you and me and about 7 billion other people we have an outer brain that can consider fear and make a choice. Our mammal brain is excellently designed for comparison and making choices and adapting. Our mammal brain does not have to live in a state of fear, though it certainly can be hijacked by the amygdala. Our mammal brain can also recognize the hijack and put the frightened amygdala back in its place. Is fear always an option? Does it live within us? Indeed it does. However, we have our wonderful mammal brain to make informed choices when fractions of a second are less important than quality of life.

I think it's a two sided coin. It's more or less a "glass half full" or "glass half empty" thought process. Someone may want to go skydiving for any number of reasons; they want the adrenaline rush, or they enjoy trying the next best and greatest thing, so they take on this challenge. But you could always look at it form the other side as well; someone might go skydiving because they feel that they don't take enough risks. Maybe they have a fear of missing the opportunity, or so on and so forth. It's based upon a specific persons wants and needs. Fear has a large role in how we make decisions, but it would be wrong to say that it controls those decisions in their entirety. There are many parts of our personalities that come into play when we make decisions.

Think of it like this: there are 'concerns of the head' and 'concerns of the heart'. The heart is to guide the spirit or the soul, whereas the head is to protect our mortality.

Regret - you won't be able to undo what you have done in the time of your life, to which your 'worth' in the eyes of others may be damaged.
Rejection - your social/self worth will be damaged
Death - obviously, your life will be no more and you will not be able to go on seeking happiness.
Being Alone - again, damaged social and self worth
Fear infringes our right to live a full life or to exercise our free will, because risk is a dangerous wind to our fragile little light we strive to keep lit as long as possible. When in fear, instead, listen to your heart.

Yes, but beneath the fear is pride. We live in fear of our ego being disrupted. I do good works in order to protect the illusion that I am innocent. When the ego is torn away, you must either seek a more powerful illusion to repress your guilt or seek forgiveness and deal with your guilt.

I ate pancakes this morning... I ate them because in order to go on living, my body requires food. If you're coming at this question with the idea in mind that I ate my pancakes out of fear... the fear of dying... I'm afraid you've reached your cul de sac. We all die anyway... So the answer to your question is no. I ate my pancakes because they're tasty and I require them to live, not because I fear the consequences.
