It is easier to make changes at the state level than the national, and at the local than the state. In the three western states, activists are bringing local initiatives (e.g. against fracking) to the (CA) state legislature. In Washington, laws against using clotheslines, growing food in your yard, and the universal distribution of and disposal of phone books are being challenged or have been abandoned. Technology is being used to bring coral reefs back to life. Algae is being developed as an energy source. Many young people have turned to Chinese and cures not involving pills with poisonous side effects.

With my growing concern regarding toxins in the environment and my home , I have started using bentonite powder ( clay ) internally..it is an ancient medicinal application that participates out toxins and free radicals from the body see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicinal_clay for an interesting article . It was even used by NASA for better food absorption in space .

Message received, even without the sensationalization of the easiest (cheapest) source of fluoride currently being the fertilizer industry (It's basically just an element -- and a "by-product" is just something we haven't yet found a profitable use for).

Is this a surprise to you that we Humans can be very stupid, even foolish? If we have a perfectly serviceable product, say strawberry ice cream, the Human folly kicks in and says, "Hey, I can artificially flavour this stuff with anti-freeze! I'll save cents on a gallon of it and people will barely tell the difference! And no "negative side-effects" have been legally proven (or will take a generation or more to manifest genetically in offspring) . . . so it's "just good business""!
(And then we would hold our collective "intellectual rationality" or "critical thought" as something pure or immaculate? Just as we taint our bodies with all kinds of poisonous things, we also taint our minds and our spirits with all kinds of poisonous things. What?? Did you think we would stop the process at just the physical??)

If you are going to promote ignorance, it might be better to stick to something that hasn't been researched as thoroughly as fluoride.
