Studies show the body and brain continue to grow and develop until about age 25.

My religion prohibits recreational (i.e., non-medical) use of alcohol, where medical use is restricted to that ordered by a doctor.

Well it's 21 because the brain stops developing at 21, and beer can damage your brain, obviously. But either way honestly I don't really care. I hate beer, it's gross and it tastes like piss.

Ideally, the legal drinking age should be 18, mainly due to the fact that 18 and unders will always be able to get alcohol, one way or another, and legalizing it for them, while it might turn few to further abuse, I believe would rid the "exciting risk factor" for the majority and many would only use in moderation.

The only reason I cannot fully endorse this age is due to the rate at which the human brain is still developing from 18, really through the early - mid twenties.

Like @SlyGirl08 said, if you're old enough to be shipped off to a foreign country and get your head blown off by a terrorist's AK-47, you're old enough to throw back a pack of Budweiser.

I mean I'm 19 and alcohol is super easy to find and almost fool proof to get away if you are smart. I think that the law should be right where it is because let's face it kids are going to drink. But I have noticed the ones that are 21 usually more responsible when drinking than those who are not. So 21 is fine.

I don't think it's and age issue. I think they shoud take a tests - physical and psychological. So that you know that your health 'allows' you to drink some amount of alcohol (there ARE people who get wated after one glass of wine, so what if they already are 21.. they shan't be allowed to drink firstly for their own good). And moral/psychological: we all have our own quirks and behavior patterns when we are drunk. Some become instantly angry, some - sleepy, some - friendly to no extent, but not all of us want to violate the law and cause damage... It's be nice to identify people who are predisposed to actions like that when they are drunk.

To be true to myself, and soon to be hated by the young on SP, 25yo. Why? The very worst I saw in the ER was due to alcohol. That is my only reason really.

At 14 - minors are allowed to consume and possess undistilled (fermented) alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine, as long as they are in the company of their parents.
At 16 - undistilled drinks are allowed without a parent.
At 18 - having become adults, people are allowed access to distilled liquor.

I don't really give a crap. There's a ton of drugs that kids are already allowed take. What difference does it make if they abuse alcohol instead of Adderall?

I always laugh when people say "18, 'cause you can fight for your country!" Just what a soldier needs to cover up the horrific memories that only a war could provide.
