I consider myself a person who appreciates truly GOOD film, and so I am somewhat embarrassed that my absolutely favorite movie of all time is "The Princess Bride." It has everything - love, action, adventure, clever dialogue, memorable lines, lovable characters... It's everything that a favorite movie should be, I think.

Tough to choose a clear cut favorite. The Big Lebowski is legendary. It's good for every reason any film is good.

Pride and Prejudice. Even though I love Colin Firth in the BBC and generally liked the whole thing, I like the 2005 version better. It may or may not be because of the pretty piano music. ^_^

A very unlikely couple finds their way into sharing who they are and who they want to be.
Also, this is excellent commentary on our political and social scene - what issues are our priority and what are we actually doing to solve them. A must see.

Star Wars, obviously. Which one? Well, the whole damn saga starting with Return of the Jedi as my favorite. First of all, it's got lasers. And robots. And science fictiony space flight! Secondly, it's a deep story of redemption. Yeah, it might be kinda an unoriginal story told by different peoples in different tongues in different ways in different times but Lucas told it SO well. (that's what made Shakespeare great even though his stories were unoriginal) Anakin Skywalker, a guy who became so consumed with anger and hatred that he thought he became them. Only his son would be wise enough to see past it. Even after killing all those innocent people including his own wife, [spoiler alert!] Skywalker still came back to save his son and the whole damn galaxy.

V for Vendetta. The power of the characters and the rage that fills you from merely watching the conformity and injustice of the authoritarian society is simply moving. The look of utter amazement on my face when the thousands gathered at parliament near the ending said it all. Natalie Portman is also a one of a kind actor who portrayed the pain, unfairness, and power as the result of her experiences, beautifully.

"It's Kind Of A Funny Story" is probably very high on the list. It's a great movie that's based off of a great book that helped me identify some things in times of darkness and confusion.
