I remember it from long ago and it was quite suspenseful! liked it and now I have to go find it somewhere and see it again! lol

One of the most amazing movies I ever saw when it first came out. A very simple premise, but full of tension, fear, and jumpy bits. I was hanging onto the upholstery through it all. I loved the end when Dennis Weaver jumps up and down and yells something like "I won...I won". And then he just sits down (almost falling) and stares down into the canyon where the tanker truck is lying. Very cool...

It kind of reminds me a drawing my Bill Mauldin, the WWII editorial cartoonist and correspondent who wrote and drew Up Front with Willie and Joe. He has a picture of Willy amidst blasted trees and buildings, bodies all around, blown up fighting equipment all around. Willy is covered by a dented helmet, ragged out uniform and a smoking gun. At the bottom it merely says "I won"...

It's a good movie - especially for a rookie director -

apparently he went on to become quite successful....
