Hmm.
A Golden Age based for the most part on crime, fear, violence, breaking of one temporary relationship after another and psychological dysfunction?
I'll have to check my TV listings and get back to you on that one.
I don't want to rain on your aspirated writings. But could there be something else to "sell" other than a steady diet of negatives? Sure, negatives get a lot of attention.
But so does a train wreck.

I am offended by the Unrealistic Reality Shows that potray women as shallow, materialistic, drunk, plastic divas, who enjoy the occasional fight and humiliation of unfeminine behaviour, not satisfied to do so on their own, dragging their children and mates into their tangled webs. Why is this popular ?

Yes there are a few good shows worth investing my time to, but for now ....I'll just go with
Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations, love as he takes us on his travels all over the world introducing us to the many assorted flavors, cuisines and cultures. Bourdain definately has an abundant Zest for life, and an amazing acceptance and open mind for all countries he has visited, and respect for those cultures customs and their people. Now that IS golden.
Thanks Tony :)

Living in the Matrix....
I worked in TV and film for 9 years - and still watch the odd good drama or comedy - as well as documentaries and sports -
but the habit of sitting in front of that passive aggressive monster for more than those sort of selected programmes is a disaster in so many ways...
so a "golden age" ?
I don't want one - I'd like to see TV screens go blank for 2 nights a week every week, world wide, and observe the results...
that might produce a golden age of awakening and rejection of the power brokers agenda for using the population like the people in the Matrix...

TV was much better in earlier years (M*A*S*H, All in the Family, The Sixth Sense...)

Hm, I am trying not to compare it to the "Golden Age of Hollywood", for there would be no comparison, but there are some cool shows on now.

Something that is resonating with me with the current state of television is that right now we have some of the worst television imaginable (S****y reality tv) and some of the greatest and most unique television ever! (The Walking Dead, Parks & Rec, Etc.) And they're all doing great as far as ratings go. So thats just really interesting to me.

Golden Age no. Simply for the fact shows like Jersey Shore and Basketball Wives are on air. If MTV and VH1 actually played music then maybe. However there are some really incredible shows that make up for it.

I don't know about "golden age" but definitely a good time for tv. Especially since you have actors who were once big time blockbuster movie actors moving toward working on series.

No. I really think reality shows are a waste of my time and I would lose brain cells watching that crap.
