I'm not afraid of death, but I'm kind of old already. The thing is, you didn't know what life was like before you were born and you won't afterwards, so what's the big deal. Also, I REALLY love to sleep, and death is just the longest sleep ever. I am afraid of pain though, and being kept alive, so I'm thinking of having a big DNR tattooed across my chest.

Because death is inevitable, I dont fear it. I worry about dying young though, because there are so many things I havent had a chance to do yet. I guess thats why I live every day like it might be my last.

Death is my biggest fear. I couldn't give an exact reason as to why, but just the idea of leaving and not having done all that I could have scares the crap out of me. And the fact that I don't know what it will be like, nobody who has died has come back obviously, so it is an unknown and the unknown is the absolute worst.

I feel that those who have faith in what they believe, no matter what that might be, do not fear death. To have faith is to know and understand, more often than not we do not fear what is known and understood.

A friend of mine named Emily Dickinson knew Death. He's not as scary as his reputation. Honest.

Hell no! Why would I be afraid of something that is going to happen eventually and to everyone? That's like being scared of farting in public. It happens.

I do not fear death. Death is but a thin veil that the life of the great spirit wears, it has been cast off before, and it shall again. We are ouroboros.

I am very, very, very afraid to die.

I'm afraid to die young. I'm afraid to die at the wrong time. I'm afraid to die painfully. But I'm not afraid to die, I know it's inevitable, we all die. I'm just not quite ready for it to happen.

As I learned from my study of Socrates, there is no reason to fear the unknown. It seems to me there are two options for what happens after death. The first is that the dead are nothing and have no perception of anything, which would imply blissful oblivion. The second option is that our soul is relocated from one place to another. Regardless of whether or not you believe in a Hell, doing good in your life leaves you pretty set for the afterlife, if there is one. So, to answer your question, no, I am not afraid of death. Both options seem pretty good to me. I suppose what does bother me is HOW I will die. I'd really rather not be killed violently, but seeing as many people have been killed violently, I'm not too worried. I'll go out with a fight no matter what.

I used to be, very afraid...but not anymore. I think the thing that worries me the most is dying before my kids are grown.

guess i'm one of the few here who is afraid of dying. i get the existential stuff - the naturalness and grace about it, the snuffing of a brief candle, the inevitability to be reduced to dust again - so that to consider death should either help make life count a little more, or to accept that in this universe that death is some yang to the yin of life.
