Fight Club & the Cross, Wasn't Jesus Just Fighting Himself?

So, I find Fight Club a very deep movie, and there are variations on the story. But Satan is an angel, and therefore comes from God and represents a part of God. However, Judaic-Christian tradition has Satan being an adversary of God. Jesus himself specifically said things like "do not call down fire from Heaven that is not of our Spirit". Yet, if you read the Old Testament it is very clear God did and does do this kind of thing all the time. So, isn't the message of the cross a Fight Club message?

Really the bible is pretty far from a holy book. Try be here now, the tao te ching, and the prophet.

Satan/God.. same as Cain/Able..good/evil..yin/yang..soul/soul-less..he/she..dueling instead of connecting..

While reading this question, one word popped into my mind: byzantine.

One of the few things I know about any possible God -
is that no human being now, nor ever, has known one single thing about "God's thoughts" or "God's plans"

the stories of the Bible are a wonderful collection of writings by the ancients - hungry, ill educated, irrational, superstitious, given to love of fantasies involving messiahs -

do you think they might have over egged their pudding at all?

Fight Club must be a younger folks movie, for I just found it disturbing, dark, base and creepy. My kids swear by it though. So, comparisons, such as the above, elude me. ;-/

The problem with a question like this is we have to try and wrap our minds around the motivations of God. Why he created the universe, angels, mankind, etc. Of course this is impossible with our limited minds. We have his word and our rational thought to figure this out. It clearly states in the bible that when we see Gods face, all knowledge and understanding will be granted to us.

I believe God along with evil has always been here. This doesn't necessarily mean God created evil. Evil is just a absent of Good. If God is all Good, there has to be evil in order for this to be. I believe God created all things, even Satan. Satan was enticed by this absence of good. He was jealous of God and latched onto this absence, thus his fall from heaven. The rest is history.

Light and dark have to coincide together for the other one to exist! We measure darkness by the absent of light, and light by the absence of darkness.

My answer does not help, but Fight Club is a favourite of mine. :)
