Culture Club. Go ahead. Laugh at me. . . . Keep laughing. But those guys were really talented. Give their greatest hits a listen and tell me they weren't. I was never a fan of theirs until recently. A coworker had their greatest hits on. Normally, I would have protested passionately against such abuse. But, I figured I'd keep the peace. After a couple of songs, my whole attitude about them changed. I was as shocked as you probably are. And you probably think I'm saying this to get a laugh. I'm totally serious. I mean, I'm not going to sit and listen to them all the time. I'm just saying be careful what you criticize. You have no idea what you'll be listening to 25 years after it was popular, ya know.

Oh, and Franke and the Knockouts, and Tommy Tutone. I am quite sure that I'd be willing to perform a sacrifice of some kind for a larger discography of some of the '80s one-hit-wonders.

My favorite band is currently unknown and trying to make it in the world. They're called 'Enter the Haggis' - they're a Canadian based Roots/Celtic/Rock fusion band... http://enterthehaggis.com/whitelakeintro.cfm

Trip Shakespeare ROCKED! I was a faithful attendee whenever they played Kirby's Bar in Moorhead, MN so many moons ago.I LOVED Elaine Harris' mad drum skills and she played standing up. Such awesome talent! Minneapolis circa 1980's also produced noteworthy bands like the Urban Guerillas, The Phones and The Wallets (complete with a jamming accordianist!) who should have all made the big time.

My best friend's brother was in an up and coming band called The Myddle Class in the mid-60's. They were destined for greatness but that dream died when he got murdered in Boston. Terrible loss. Look them up.

Oval Opus! A fantastic southern rock band out of Cincinnati...I saw them for the first time in a bar in Columbus and was hooked. Great original music, and they put on a killer show.
