everyone's a little different online than they are in real life. even if they have an avatar picture of themselves and you know their name...there is still a certain level of anonymity (i have no idea if i spelled that right) that you have on here that you don't in the "real" world

I'm much more talkative on the internet. Mainly because I have the same level of voice here, and in person I'm really quiet, despite my efforts.

As some of the other people have pointed out, the only way that I am different in real life as opposed to being online is I'm more myself online. I mean, with my friends and such I act just as crazy and silly and such, or probably worse. I just find that in most situations in real life I tend to just keep my mouth shut about all of it. I've always been better at explaining myself through writing than speaking.

I don't think so. If I am, it's not intentional. I'm the same way here as I am with people I know. If I were physically in the same room as a group of stranger I would be quiet, but then again, I lurked here for a long time before I participated, so maybe that is the online equivalent.

of those I have met first online and then met in real life - I'd say they had no fake persona - but they were different from what I expected -
that's just a normality to do with perception though....

maybe ? Being online could make it possible for someone, who may be shy to have a face to face conversation with someone, go online and be perfectly comfortable opening up like they would really like to do, and the same goes with someone who has the courage to speak their mind online by way of insult or disrespect , would not have that same courage to say it to your face.

For me, what you see is what you get as the saying goes, my persona remains the same
