Confession of Opinions
Many decent folks hide their opinions - or even lie about them - when they find themselves in a group of people who would most likely disagree with those opinions. We have all, at one time or another, given a blanket statement regarding our distrust and dislike of people who vote a certain way, listen to a certain type of music, belong to a specific religion or simply disagree with something we believe strongly in. More often than not, we fail to realize that the person standing next to us (maybe a good friend or family member) may fall into such a category. We let a stranger's single opinion of a very specific topic dictate how we feel about them as a whole, regardless of their other traits and characteristics that may very well show them as a good person, much like how we like to see ourselves. Take the time to list TEN opinions you hold that may be different from those of your friends and family. What views do you have that, if taken individually to form an overall description of a person, may paint you as someone your loved ones may initially hate? Five would be too easy, but TEN forces you to dig a little bit.
